Mites infestation

I recently lost my blue buff brahma 6 month old chicken and I was told that it was suffering a mites infestation. How on earth do mites take over like this that the chickens' pain was unbearable... please tell me how i can prevent this and also how it is treated.

If you can get a photo of them and post it, it will help people to identify exactly which parasite you are dealing with. In the meantime, you need to clean the coop - every nook and cranny as well as flat surfaces - to remove the mites infesting it. And make sure your birds have access to a dust bath containing wood ash and/or diatomaceous earth. There are proprietary products to kill them, in the coop and/or on the bird, but it varies by country and I don't know what may or may not be available in Pakistan. Good luck!
