Hi these are two muscovys my hen hatched Mother’s Day. They are so big now. I was wondering if anyone might know if they are male or female.

Hello I have Muscovy ducks also they are about a year old now and we just had 2 of them to hatch some babies. I was wondering how old do they have to be before you can tell what sex they are?

Ducks are soooooo fun!!! I love all my "kids". Thelma the sassy and noisy Pekin, Fat Louie (drake), TB and Lady (Muscovies) - such the regal team, The spice girls (Khakis), Peaches and Buttons (Welsh Harlequins) and Pepper and no-name (Cayuguas).
Super excited - Our first own hatched Muscovy, Peeps was hatched on July 2nd.
Question to my Muscovy club: The girls are sitting on 6 eggs. Peeps was hatched on July 2nd. I am thinking that if no more hatch by July 7th; it is time to push the girls off the nest to let them get back to life.
Thoughts?

The lightest one looks female and smaller than the other or is that the camera angle? Gorgeous Scovy!

Yeah the lighter one is smaller. I’m thinking maybe a female

No, I have not. At close to hatching - will I be able to see anything? I thought it was more for early in the process. Thanks, Miss Lydia

Well you'll get to see if the air sac has dipped that will tell you something. And you can smell and listen to the egg. May not see movement since the ducklings would take up most of the egg by now. Are you sure no eggs were laid at a later date so you'd have some late hatchers? Plus if ducklings were hatched on July 2nd mamas will usually leave the nest around day 3 of hatching so they may save you any trouble of making them get up. I'd sure still candle and listen even if they leave the nest just to make sure you don't have any late hatching.
