My female who is roughly 7 months old jus spit up brown liquid. We noticed the male was doing the same thing a few minutes prior. He is about a year and a half. Their diet consists of crumble feed and what they forage for. Every now and then I give them greens from the store. They seem healthy in all other sense. She spit up when I was trying to pick her up and put her in the Hut with the other female who has been picking on her. The male was doing it when our dog was sniffing him. Is this something I should be worried about or is it something they did because of stress. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like with the one you picked up that can happen we push on the belly and crop area and water/food comes back up and stress can make it happen too. As long as they are eating good and acting healthy other wise. Just keep a closer eye on them to make sure it doesn't keep happening.
@Muscovygirl426 Welcome to BYC

She ate all her crickets and yesterday ate all her meal worms. Today we are getting some electrolytes at the feed store and I asked by husband to ask them what plants we can get to help her encourage forage at home. She and pollito are inside until I see her fully recovered. They love it. On Saturday if really hot weather in Miami I will let go in the pool only if water is not too cold. Well see

Pio second check up was yesterday. Now they did a fecal and while improving she still not all back so Doc gave her a vitamin b12 vaccine and told us to feed her baby food every 3 hours to get her full strengthen back. Exactly what we did with pollito. This morning she looked good and was on my couch lol she flew a bit to be able to go up. So definitely better. Both were forging on grass and hay bits and rocks some dirty. Yes, we brought in some outside just to see her reaction. She and pollito were acting normal and she got her beef baby food at 8 :43 am. I think the whole recovery process takes about three weeks or so because they have restore all their vitamins and nutrient balance once again. This does take some time. She is moving along and making progress each day.

Thank you so much. God know i try and my husband too. They are our precious babies. Pollito is a dear she sat by Pio during her most crucial hours. I slept right beside her that scary night she was really weak. They all mean the world to us. We have other rescues that we take care of and also do fostering for the humane society of Miami. So much for fostering as we ended up adopting all the kitties. But life is great and it's all about giving back. They are al a joy. We also have two beautiful red chickens that were in horrible living conditions before we got them. Now they are free range in our large back yard and as with all our pets, sleep inside until 7 am when they go out to forge. Their names are Gigi and Sunny. Cute as could be and smart too. They know when I get home they know on the French doors leading to the pool area where they are and running
Inside for treat and night
Night time. They are well taken care of
By Spartan our rescue lab
Mix with I don't know but maybe horse lol. That dog is huge but just looks like a big overgrown lab. And
Is he sweet. Totally loved his feathered friends. And protects them greatly. Yes it's crazy but thank God it works
And while our friends and neigjbors think we're crazy
We love our life and our kids do too and their friends think we
Live cool. Lol!

And that is what matters! It sounds like a wonderful place you have and all the rescues have a wonderful home full of love.

That is why BYC is so special we can come on here and talk about all our feathered and furry babies and no one thinks we're crazy.

This happens every once in a while to all of my Muscovys sometimes they drink way too much because they haven't drink enough earlier. So they just end up puking it up. Sometimes it's after I pick them up. Make sure they have constant access to water, if you have to put out multiple buckets throughout the yard so they don't dehydrate . Ducks dehydrated so quickly.

They have access to water everywhere lol. They have a pond in the yard and a few bowls through out. As long as it's nothing serious all is good then. Just never seen them. Do. It before.

thanks though

Well that's a good thing that you haven't seen him do before if it's something that is happening for a long period of time and very often than I would look into it. It's pretty common amongst my ducks. Maybe happens every few weeks to a month.

Hi there ....Good Morning

I am a mommy to two two Muscovy ducks. Pollito is almost two ( DOB 2/5/15) and Pio is going to be a year in March (DOB 3/7/2016) Both were orphaned and we raised them since they were born. You can imagie how super spoiled they are. Well they both have done the spitting up thing and my two chickens, Gigi and Sunny do the same from time to time - not often but I have seen them all do it.

I think its not unusual and they all eat and drink and swim in the pool ( the duckies do) chickens only drinl water but think the ducks are weird going in the pool.lol.

I do have a question about eggs and Duck laying the eggs ....sometimes Pio has a hard time and looks like it takes her longer to lay then Pollito - any thing I can do to make this process easier for her.

All the issues I have ever seen in two years have come from the whole egg laying process. any suggestions will help.

Thank you and have a great day
Irene
