My First Egg Is "Hard Boiled"!?!?

that is SO odd! I was thinking along the lines of the other posters - some joker - because there is no other easily explained cause. I doubt your hen running a fever would be sufficient to cause the chemical change in the egg proteins. Anyone else have any theories?

We're being punked? I dunno.

Its simply not possible for an egg to do that without simmering/boiling hot water, or a microwave.

I called my sister and asked if either she or her fiance had done this and she said she swears "NO!".
My husband is adamant that he did not do this! And he's actually getting a little peeved that I've now asked him 4 times

We have had no other backyard visitors....

Is it possible that she just has a fever and it was in there too long before she laid it??? I am SO confused!!

Over 18 years of raising chickens and 18 years of pranking and being pranked.

NO. NOT unless your hen got to boiling temp. In which case you would have a dead hen.

Who's being pranked here? Unless you have a really BAD camera, that's not even the same egg! Look at the color difference.

Ok, Ok

I guess I just have to accept that someone played a joke on me. I just find it EXTREMELY hard to believe since in the picture even I can see what looks like dried fluid, dirt, and it was outside the nest box...

Boo.
