Since Rose (3 months) and Nancy (2 months) share their own coop, I let them free range while I was cleaning up outside... They spent all their time following me and chirping until they got me to pick them up and give them a big snuggle...

One of those solar yard lights would work well and they're LED so no worries about fire. The theory is that it's dark and scary going through that door, so putting the light in reassures them all is ok.

ETA: You telling them to go up the ramp gives them confidence as you wouldn't let anything happen to them.

I will see if Jordan has one that isn't sensor and pop it in there. Hazel goes up way before the sun goes right down and she has been sitting where the chicks can see her when they come up the ramp but I might sit out there this arvo and watch what happens.

I trained my first flock to come to a call and Hazel does but the new ones are still worried and stick together at the moment.

Rooster Crowing:
Its currently 5:08am and I can hear a rooster crowing if you go outside. Its not mine but its a lovely noise.
Also, sounds of birds....
Hold up! As im writing this I can hear a rooster trying to crow! That one could be mine!!! They are 1 month 20 days old. They should be trying soon am I right?

It could be yours but mine usually don’t attempt crowing until at least 4-6 months of age.

Since you don't currently have a full grown rooster, who ever your lead cockerel is will likely try to answer the other roo anytime now. Mine often start at about 3 months, but only one. And once they join the big boys they'll stop until they are much bigger and sure of themselves.

It sounds terrible. Might not be mine just sounded close too. I know 1 neighbor has chicken not sure about the other.

It very well could be yours. Maybe you can try to be in watch to see where it’s coming from next time?

Yeah it was after the big ones call but probably isnt mine. Im not sure who is the lead Cockerel yet to be honest. Hazel just tells them shes boss at the moment.
