It's a difficult balance. I'm ok with predators in the front yard. But not near the birds. If they venture into the pasture, well they become part of my soil improvement project.

I have a compost pile... Dead animals go there. And the good things they do to the carbon go back into the soil.

We have a compost. But at the moment its just vegetables and stuff that goes in it. Might be too close to the house for dead animals.

Update on our Gardening/Planting:
Watermelons have been planted in their new home. Close to our dam and im a nice old tree for a pretty back drop.


Strawberries have been planted and placed on my window ledge with the Pumpkins.




Remaining Watermelon and Tomato plants will be given to my mother in laws partner.

30° at the moment. Hottest my chickens have been in so far.

Update on my flock:
They lasted through the heat today then we had a massive storm! Not much rain but I checked on the chickens because the thunder and lightning was so bad I thought it might have scared them and they might have got injured trying to get away from it or died from the noise being soooo loud. But no they are all great. Roosting in the dry together.


Hazel really gets along with the others so im extremely happy.
