Hi yall! Okay, so today I went to the Feed store and they had little Light Brahma chicks!! ... I was so, so, so close to getting two of them (Lucy&Ethel) but I restrained myself by saying “well, I don’t know much about those so I better go research first”... but they were soooooo cute... they would come running to my fingers and let me scratch their little necks.... I am still tempted but the thought of going through the winter with babies does not seem fun.
When I got all my gals in early March it was difficult for awhile cuz we actually had a really nice AND long Spring so I think my next ones will have to be in late Spring next year... or the next if I’m really good

I know you want to go and get them right now lol. I want more babies! I want another coop, or a bigger one!

Ok what the?
I just went to get Hazels egg for the day and there wasn't 1. There was egg white at the entrance of the roost. No shell or yolk. Have they eaten it? It was so far away from the nesting box? Or is this something that can happen?

I think it’s possible.. for awhile right when my GLW started laying, her eggs had a very soft shell and when they would roll it around it would break so she or someone would eat it but as her shells hardened that stopped.. thank goodness!
My chickens like to roll the others eggs and put them under themselves while they lay their egg

I think it’s possible.. for awhile right when my GLW started laying, her eggs had a very soft shell and when they would roll it around it would break so she or someone would eat it but as her shells hardened that stopped.. thank goodness!
My chickens like to roll the others eggs and put them under themselves while they lay their egg

I will monitor it closely but just encase.
I looked at the golf ball idea so I will try that if needed.

Oh, I am well. STILL painting those darn shelves! I’ll send a pic when done..
I am really tired today... we had a cool front move through last night and it knocked the power out.. almost the whole day. Anyway, I woke up when it happened at 4:00am soooo, I’m ready for bed, now! It’s 7:40pm here.

ohhh thats no good. I had a power outage the other day and had to throw out all my cold stuff in the fridge. was it cool enough to save that type of stuff?

Yes, I think the fridge stayed cool enough to be able to keep everything.

My gals have really been laying well.. I got seven eggs again today.... I won’t get seven EVERY day but... and I actually think ALL eight gals are laying! The reason I think this is because out of the seven eggs that I got the other day, only one of them was an Australorp egg and I have TWO Australorps sooooo.... Claire must be being VERY sneaky about it cuz like I said she is never in there!!!

Im glad you didnt lose your cold fridge stuff its expensive when that happens.
