If they hatch right I will be off work, so I'm sure the first thing they will see is blond hair, a camera for eyes, and a great big smile. lol they will think they have one ugly momma

Then I will have to tell them the ugly gosling story for bedtime and they will think they are going to be swans someday lol

I checked them last night and I still have lots of movement even though the eggs are getting so dark it's getting hard to see anything.

On a sad note their real mother(my Toulouse female) passed away yesterday. She hurt her leg a couple weeks ago getting out of her pool. Even though she was eating well and drinking, and I had put her in a small pen by herself so she would heal. I'm afraid she must have had some internal damage. So these eggs have become twice as improtant for me.

Today is day 9 for me and I have candled tonight....two you can see the eye developing (the little black spot on the embryo) and the 3rd egg still shows nothign......should I go ahead and take it out or give it more time?
I'd hate for it to be a thick shell but all I see is clear and a yolk....so I don't think that its developed or even fertile....

what do y'all think?

Thanks Austin.

Carine,

I have waited till day 14 before if I thought there was a chance, but it sounds like your isn't even giving a hint of devolping. It sounds to me like it's not fertile. It could never hurt to wait a few more days if you want though.

Good luck on your hatch and keep us posted. You may have already said this, but what breed are you incubating?

and I did open it today...there was nothing ...no veins, no embryo, no blood ring...nothing...the only thing I noticed was little opaque white circles..more than one though...in the yolk..I thought maybe it was fertile but just never got past the first 2 days or so but then I noticed there were more than one...I have no idea what they were...you could barely tell they were even there...but I think Non-fertile is the result.

Sorry the one wasn't fertile Carine. I guess that's just nature, The rings sound like it may have been the start of it going bad. They do tend to get like a cloudy look aroung them before turning rotton.

Today is the 25th!!

I will mist and turn my eggs one last time and then get my humidity higher and stable. I'm excited, last night when I was misting one moved a little, when I picked it up to my ear, I could hear it taping on the shell. I checked this morning and no crack yet, so I guess the little one is just impatient lol.

wow....if it was tapping on the shell that means it has pipped right? I mean isn't that the only way they can tap on the shell?

Yay for you....I am so scared mine are going to be quitters and I will have waited all this time for nothing....I am not even at 2 weeks yet...it's killing me all this waiting.

Carine
