My hens tongue is through the skin under her beak

:hmm Poor girl! I think she can be stitched up pretty well though, it seems like a small puncture wound and thankfully chickens heal super well!

Yeah hopefully! The only problem is no vets will even take a look at her. I tried to see what I could do at home but its healing so it’s hard to push her tongue back through the puncture :(

Wow. I've never seen that happen before! Poor thing.

Do you have livestock vets in your area? Or a vet school? The vet school out here will look at it for practice. You can call rescues, too, and see who they use. I used to volunteer at a wildlife rescue, and we'd get the occasional call. Everyone were volunteers, so the doctors or vet techs would usually help if they had time.

What a silly girl! She'll definitely need some vet attention to get that tongue back in there. If you're having trouble finding one, aav.org has a search feature to find bird vets in your area. Not all will see chickens, but it might be a good place to start.

How is she doing?

If you can get anyone to see her, then you may have to remove the scab and see if you can loosen the tongue and push it back through. She's not able to stay hydrated or eat, so at some point you will at least need to tube fluids and food into her. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/crop-feeding.75454/

I cannot find the thread but someone else had a similar issue within the last year. I can't remember if a vet fixed it or if they had to do it themselves.
@Eggcessive do you remember? I thought I saved the thread, but not!

I agree with keeping the tongue moist - use whatever you can. Oil, chapstick, vaseline, honey - all those sound fine to me.

I would follow @Wyorp Rock ’s advice to get the tongue back up into the beak. An injury piercing the bottom of the beak probably has happened. These holes will heal, but the tongue should be moved back into the beak. If the tongue has dried out it may be shortened, but i would work on getting it loose. Let us know what happens.

Ouch, poor baby! I agree with the others that you need to keep it moist.
I wish I had more suggestions, but if you can moisten it enough to make wiggle it back in that would probably work.
Your definitely gonna have to tube feed, I would use @Wyorp Rock's advice.

Ps. How old is this bird? It also appears that you have a rooster, I believe I see pointed hackle feathers, and that comb and face are screaming cockerel. :)
