Hello and welcome to BYC!
Sounds like you have a lot in common there, loving gardening and chickens. You will fit right in.
I want to caution you about package coops as they usually exaggerate how many chickens they will accomodate! You might want to check into that.
Hope you will post some pictures for us, we just love to see other peoples chickens and coops as well as gardens!
Thanks CapricornFarm :frowI was spoiled last time as I had the use of my Dad's original chicken shed and only 4 hens to start, but this time it was a matter of buy it as it might never happen. I don't intend to overload the coop and will make sure the girls are out foraging most days, too. Hubby has already started talking about making a huge run, even offering to give up the garden shed space so they might have more room to run.:wee:wee:wee:wee:wee :wee
I'll try and post some photos soon.

I am interested in a mix of Wyandotte, Isa Brown and Australorp breeds and have access to these from a reputable local breeder... if I get a move on.
UPDATE 21st December. We went and collected four 3-wk old chicks on the 16th. :jumpy:jumpy

It was a Happy-Go-Clucky kinda day!!!!
Sorry for not updating earlier, but we have been busy getting organised and having fun settling in the new family. 2 Australorps (a black and a blue) and 2 Wyandotte gold laced (a black and a blue). Sadly, the most beautiful has developed some talls and her spurs are bigger. We can't have a rooster here, but wish we could move to where we could. She will be a stunning rooster. We have decided to try to get a couple of pullets or laying hens, but will do this after Christmas as our chicken tractor is still on the way. It will be a perfect separation coop for the little ones.

Having lots of fun! :celebrate:thumbsup:love
