I've had cockerels crow as early as 5 weeks old, and others that didn't start until after 20 weeks.Yep. My Iowa Blue "hen" is beginning to crow. At least I think it's crowing. Neither of the other two are making the noises I'm hearing. Can they really crow at this early age? He's not quite 10 weeks old. I need to get him to a farm ASAP. My neighbors are nice, but not that nice!
Blue males are always 'patchy'.
Top looks like a pullet bottom a roo
Compare the coloring and the feathering of the known cockerels to the one you aren't sure about. Notice any differences? Do you see how patchy the boys' coloring is? Do see how even and uniform the one that's in question is? The gender of your friend's bird is obvious.
