Good morning. All this talk about mites is freaking me out. My D'uccle and my Buff CB have been looking a little pale so I went out this AM and checked them. Didn't see any mites or eggs and they arer eating and act ing fine. So maybe just look pale from the polar like weather. 10 degrees this morning. Making waffles and turkey sausage for breakfast. You are all invited!

Might be internal parasites.

What? How can that be, you mean you can never use their eggs?

Yes, because it's banned in birds. Seems a tad extreme but to be safe I use Permethrin.

So after staring my Silkies down yesterday and deciding that the 2 black ones are boys (based on streamers, stance, behavior) one started crowing this morning. It is the one that always bites me!!! A full on bite!!!

Oh, Misty, I am so sorry that he is having all this trouble. This has got to be so awful for you...I odn't know how you are keeping yourself together!

Make sure to insist they do a culture and senitivity of the leakage in case it is infected, so they can treat him with the appropriate antibiotics if it is.

I hope things turn around for you real soon, and I am keeping you in my thoughts!!!

Now we should both get off this computer and go to bed! (that's herb tea, not coffee!)

I need some advice Squatchers. I'm getting Seramas in the spring and I'm working on my coop plans. I know typically they say 3 sq ft per bird in the coop and 10 for the run. What are your thoughts on sq ft for Seramas being that they are soo extremely tiny?
