Ugh, my hubby wanted me to use bird netting on top of a run years ago. I insisted we have to at least use chicken wire. The run was 8 feet high, so no dogs up there. It eventually rusted out so i had to put welded wire up there any way. Here i insisted on welded wire. No discussion. I wanted to cover it all with metal roofing but that got vetoed.

Since I shut my birds in at night. I used plastic snow fencing to cover the run on my stationary coop. It's worked really well with the 6ft high dog run chain link fencing panels.

I would hate to see those chickens go through weeks of pain and misery. Some look worse than others.

I think its just 2 that lived through the attack. It looks like the Sussex took the worst of it. Plucked above and below as well as skinned.

I know all 3 of my dogs would go after chickens. If not play then food.

I had 24 birds running around all day with the dogs in their run. Just a short 40" fence between them. Oh and a hot wire.
