Sassy, Ahhhhhhh Italy. Dreamy place for sure!
So any favorite foods from the trip?

Misty, that is darling! I love the cabin! You know..... I have never tried a stores.

May have to give it a go......
It was 14 years ago, so I don’t remember. I remember it is nothing like what we call Italian food here. And they serve wine in plastic pitchers, nothing fancy going on there. The wine was good, but sadly I don’t partake in any alcohol anymore. I like it too much! Sigh.

OK so let's go with best vacation EVER!

Can be one you actually took or a dream trip!

Mine?

I went to Tillamook Oregon when I was 18. It was AWESOME!
Cold here when we left. Green and blooming when we got there.
Two weeks of sight seeing! Went to the cheese factory cause CHEESE. I fell in love with the area. It rained twice and only for a few minutes each time. Went clam digging. Those buggers are hard to dig out! Ate the best seafood I have ever had!

I would do that trip again.
Oooo, I love this topic! I really don't travel much.. I get anxiety about going places I haven't been before so it's hard for me to just go places. My best vaca (and only one as an adult) was for my honeymoon my ex and I went on a Disney Land & Sea vaca. It was the best thing ever! We spent 4 days in the disney parks, then had a 4 day cruise where we went to the bahamas, and castaway cay, which is Disney's private island. It was a lot of fun and the food was amazing. I'd love to go back and take my kids someday. I'm hoping I can afford a trip to Disney next year. We went to Disneyland when we visited my brother, but it isn't the same.. plus it's sooo hard to fit everything into one day. We only went on like 5 rides the whole day and spent more time standing in line for food than anything else.

Okay! Now that I brought us down, can someone pick us back up please! :barnie
Y'all are a bit heavy for that :p

Dream trip... ooh.. to the middle of nowhere in Labrador. I would love to sit in solitude forever... or just a week is fine if I can't get forever.

I don't get out much. In general, home is the best place to be.

Apryl, what!?! Disney has their own island?? That sounds like a blast!
The lines thing is a bummer. But heck YEAH!!!! Trip of a lifetime! Cruise to a private island! Great food! I bet the weather was awesome too!

Banty, You are wishing for quiet time?
I am not sure about the forever part but a week would be divine!
Where is Labrador? Warm? Cold?
We must know more!!

Home IS supposed to be the best place to be I agree.

DEAD quiet time. Not a sound other than birds, butterflies, and my chooks, which of course I'd take since I worry my head off otherwise. No screaming kids, no random thumping noises.... maybe throw a unicorn into the picture somewhere since that's just as likely right now. :gig

Labrador is the mainland part of Newfoundland and Labrador, a Canadian province.

It's kind of weird, but it sometimes feels like I am a battery and home is the only place it can charge. :idunno I'm a weirdo, I know.

Let's see... hmmmm

Most of our vacations ALWAYS had a mission and generally involved family. Two come to mind... I have to rank the second as the best.

When we lived in Riyadh we had to take four trips (1 per quarter) every year... Long story on why. Generally we took one to Germany, one to Cypress and the other two were generally UAE or Bahrain. Though Cypress was cool, NEVER get caught traveling internationally with a kid with Chicken Pox... Think Home Alone NY.

#1: We decided to have our SIL and Nieces join us at a resort just outside Ider Oberstein in Germany. Taxes are Illegal in Saudi so airfare for all three was like $800 and our cabin was big enough for all of us. I did have to pick them up in Belgium at the airport. We were already world travelers but to see these three in the international environment at Christmas time was a blast. Just some highlights. No, you can't just put the plug adapter on your 110v hair dryer and plug it into 220! OMG! Teen aged girls and no hair dryer. Imagine how relieved they were when DW pulled one out they could use. The girls were in heaven when we visited the winery and even more so when the owner gave us a private tour (I've known him for years). They were both old enough to order a drink at the bar, how cool is that? Eating fresh roasted chestnuts while shopping on the square was also cool. But the highlight of the trip was when my youngest niece asked me: "Uncle Bob can I just have a grilled cheese sandwich and fries for dinner?" The owner and I were good friends so after I explained to him what a grilled cheese was he was more than happy to have me come in the kitchen and help him make not one but four... One for my niece and one for each of his family. Good news was he had a wheel of cheddar in the fridge (I was thinking I might have to make it with Gouda or butter kaise. American cheese is well, American and not really cheese.). All in all it was a fantastic trip and my nieces still talk about it today. Sadly SIL passed a few years ago, but she had the thrill of her life during the trip.

#2: No mission, no agenda... DW and I went to TN. We stayed in a converted Howard Johnson hotel that claimed to be a time share. It was horrible! But we got to visit Sgt York's house and meet his youngest son and several of his grand kids. We stayed at the gaylord and took in the oprey with back stage passes of course. And we visited friends in Smith County.... After searching for more than 10 years for our retirement location.... We both fell in love with the place... And here we are now.

Well that about covers vacations...
I spent more than 20 years as a government contractor, last seven were virtual (how that happened is another story). Like Rae, I'm not comfortable getting into details. Prior to that I was in the Air Force... Started as an avionics tech working weapons systems, lasers, and cameras. Then I grew up and became a maintenance officer. Best job I ever had was flying around the pacific in the back seat of an F-16, leading 240 people who were all smarter than me.

Incredible! :bow

I have been in exactly two countries: Canada and the USA. Yeah, I'm not much for travel.

I knew you had stories to tell! I love piggy stories too!

Yeah, it's awesome, but pretty much uninhabited except for the workers.. not much out there either, just a beach & a little shop to buy junk. Only time I ever swam in an ocean. Still creeped out by the idea of what could have been in there.
Did you ever see the story of the lady who lives on a cruise ship? Now, THAT is the dream.
