With all the “stuck in snow” talk I looked up traction mats. You place them in front of the spinning tire and —instant traction. My only problem is then you leave them? If I’m that stuck I sure don’t want to stop again.
I did find a traction block. You strap it to your tire and it gets you unstuck. I guess you could drive a little with it on but not far.
I really liked the easy on and off tire chains. They were like crampons for your tires. These you could leave on for a bit to get to safe ground. Not sure how legal it is to drive with them on though....
I’ve been in situations were I’d risk the ticket!

Oh glorious wonderful day! I heard the absolutely unmistakable sound of Hobo's egg song this morning and I didn't immediately get excited because when she's feeling good she sings for everyone. I went out and checked and one little Hobo egg was in the nest! I know it isn't fertile because she's been dogeing the rooster like he has the plauge but she'll get squatty soon and those favaniques are on like donkey kong y'all! :celebrate

This is one of the best inventions for ice and snow. I have one and it’s totally worth the money. You can find them on QVC and Amazon. Don’t cheap out and buy the imitation.

I've seen that & thought about getting one for my dad b/c he goes into work early in the morning.. good to know they work.

I'm going to have to get me a vacuum cleaner that isn't such a wuss. Dirt devil my rear end.:barnie
I had a cheap dirt devil until it finally died. This is what I just bought & I love it.

They have a couple fancier models, but I live in a small apt and don't have a lot of storage space so I opted for the smaller model. All of the had good reviews and my favorite part about it is that the cover over the beater bar is clear so I can see when I need to cut the hair off of it! I was shocked by how much dirt it sucked up.

@Smuvers Farm You would be surprised at the smells those things will remove. You have to leave the house and no living oxygen breathing thing can be in the house.

I've borrowed one that looks like the 15g one in the back. I was told it will do my whole house in about 8 hrs. (But will also kill me if I touch it while it's running.) Eliminates orders and kills bacteria and mold. I plan on using it before I move to kill everything in the new place. Moving the pets and then running in the rental before I leave. They do smell funny when they run but it goes away quickly.
Ok, this sounds interesting, but let's say you have mice, bugs, or something living in your place, they're going to die... and rot.

Thanks, smuvie, I fixed up a plate for later. I appreciate it, I'm really tired. DH called at 5:12 am cuz the Merc wouldn't start, and he was at the grocery store a couple miles from work, and oh, I should go up the dirt road cuz it'll be easier and the main roads are clear. Take the following facts in to account: I shoveled the driveway at 2 am and got too bed sometime after 3:30 am, the Merc originates from Michigan, and therefore has tires that are all weather for Michigan since we've never needed to change them , the Merc is an 8 cylinder, the Merc is all wheel drive, and, umm, "up the dirt road." I, on the other hand, have a 6 cylinder front wheel drive van with tires meant for normal, everyday weather. I don't know why I listened to him, must have had something to do with less than 2 hours sleep, so instead of telling him to call a tow truck, or walk the rest of the way to work, or just go out the way I would have if he'd kept his mouth shut, I went his way. I spent half an hour trying to get back on flat, snow covered road to get back to my nicely cleared driveway. I got maybe 30 ft up the road he told me to use, then slid 80 ft back down, past the road I live on. I finally got within 10 ft of being able to make the turn, and wound up having to back all the way down the hill and part way up the other side. Finally, on the 4th time doing that I managed enough momentum to get back on my street and back to my driveway. The two people waiting for me to get unstuck from this one lane, snow covered hell hole they know how to maneuver through were really nice about it, and probably had a good laugh, and a heads up on conditions, so they waited on their side of the hill to get the momentum they needed. I called hubby several times throughout this whole thing, and received no useful solutions, only to rock the van back and forth (which worked, up to within 10 ft of where I needed to turn), use something to get more traction with, like snow melt or cat litter (he suggested that I leave the van where it was and walk back to the house, umm, no, I'm not leaving me van parked on a hill on a one lane dirt road so that it becomes a bigger problem, and that suggestion worked even worse than the first suggestion), and finally, that I would just have to call a tow truck (gee, novel idea, why didn't DH call a tow truck instead of calling me ). If i had gone the way I normally do, it would habe been all gentle sloping up or down on paved roads that are traveled more, and I wouldn't have had all the tattering headache of his bs. It didn't help that he didn't think to check the driveway yesterday while I was out, and DD#4 had to shovel two tire lanes in it just so we could pull it in the garage. He also didn't think that hey, it's been a few hrs since the dogs were out to go pee and poo, maybe they need the opportunity, and one of the little ones had an accident. He said he came home, took them out for a few mins , sat down and read a little. Mind you, he gets home around 2:30 pm, and DD#4 and I were gone at the time, and didn't get home til 9 pm. :he:he:mad::mad::mad::mad:

And that, smuvie, is why I'll help you out of a predicament with a nice pecan pie. :lau Cuz I might need you to return the favor someday. :gig

 rant over
You've already have enough of a day today. You get to stay home and watch tv & eat brownies all day long & nothing else will be required of you.

Maybe with the traction mats they figure you're using them b/c you got stuck, like slid off the road/ driveway, and you're using the mats to get back to the road/ driveway so you're not driving far to get to get out of the snow.. otherwise as soon as you got off the mat you'd be stuck again.

Omg, that's just sticks! 100 bucks for some sticks! I'm thinking they'd just poop on it so 100 stick toilet. Thanks for the vaccum link, that's actually affordable. Neighbor lady said to get a dyson lol! Yeah, as soon as I pay off the Lamborghini. :lau
I saw this at TSC the other day: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/coops-feathers-chicken-activity-center-for-6-chickens
Part of me thinks: Who would pay $100 for that? another part thinks: I could build that. & another thinks: I wonder if they'd even use it, or just poop all over it.

@apryl29 @Smuvers Farm If you use the ozone generator and have mice or bugs in the house -- mice will flee with the smell it makes. It's not instant death if you breath the ozone in. You'd be uncomfortable breathing and think "I should get out of here" before you died. The bugs....may kill them but how big are your bugs that they would rot and smell? If you have bugs that large you have bigger problems. :D

And yes you could build the activity center yourself. Yes they will poop all over it. They poop on everything.
