I did some cleaning, including laundry and dishes. Picked a chicken nose and got a big dark blob out of it. I’m sure she feels better. Not even the weirdest chicken thing I’ve done. Checked on rooster oil gland and it seems ok. I compared it to his brothers and they actually look the same. I can see the lump of the gland under their skin so it must be their normal. Looks different then the girls. I’m still going to keep an eye. I’ll have to be quick to check it when I see his tail is dirty looking.
Got bit by a false lady bug, in the house. Hurt like tater and left a welt. Who gets bug bites in February?

The little green one? I gave one to the chickens today. Q-tip my BC hen gobbled it up

Hi strangers. Only 840 posts behind and I ain’t reading them!

I got my first 2 Silkie eggs today! I have one Silkie Rooster (Blackie) and not sure how that it going to work out with BC rooster (Yeti). Yeti matured first and has dibs on all the women. He chases Blackie some and jumps his back when he is mating with hens. Blackie is sooo sweet though! He greets me at the door!!

Derp proof your house Smuv...before its too late.:oops:View attachment 1275780

House has been derp proofed because I married a DERP... yet he'd still walk around with a fork sticking outta his forehead if I didn't feed him with safety spoons.

I'm shocked he hasn't lost an appendage yet....

Pretty good Sam. The weekend went by way too fast. My Bluebar is laying soft shelled eggs again. 3 in 3 days. I dont get it. She is on layer feed and has access to oyster shell at all times. I ground up some calcium and added it to a little salmon. She gobbled it up. Hopefully it will help. Did the same thing 3 weeks ago and it helped until a few days ago.

I fear she has a calcium absorption problem. Some treats can cause that, but if only one bird having an issue then it's unlikely. You might need to establish a regular routine with Tums and salmon.

I need some sun. It has not been raining much here, but cloudy all the time!
Got my coop cleaned out and sprayed. Birds are next. I need to spread shavings again.

Cap, 12" of rain this month 66" this year. 5 in the last week. My girls are free ranging way further than I'm comfortable with, but the pastures are a mud pit.

Sassy, glad to see you... They've started calling me skipper since I've gone back to work and don't have time to wade through 184 posts to catch up. Just join me in he skipper club.

Sorry those beetles made it to you... Many of us have and hate them. As for the oil gland, after removing a couple hundred we pretty much know what normal looks like.

Evening all, I can tell you I'm running out of gas... Got seeds planted in the garden, got the see starter setup done and planted AND the chickens have discovered the garden:mad: I really don't mind if they pull a carrot and eat it, but tell me why they pull one, take a couple bites and then pull another etc... I think when TSC has the deer protection,I'll be putting up a 7' fence around the garden.

Good to see you Sassy!

I understand RJ. Its a fast moving thread and keeping up can be tedious. Especially since we tend to jump topics a lot.

Smuv! I am glad the movie was as hit. It sounds like a good day out.

I got just a few things done today. Tomorrow we puppy proof thee basement. I am for some strange reason cooking a turkey with all the goodies tomorrow too.
I also want to finish making the cushion covers for the rocker. There's not much left to do on it really.

I need to get all my project stuff out of the basement. My office had turned into a storage room so I will have to clean that tiny room in order to set up for sewing.

Lots of chores. WHOooooOoooo. :th
