So even at the high end.....3 cups 6 times a week equals 18 cups a week split between 9 chickens.......thats only 2 cups per bird over a weeks time. Doesnt seem excessive at all........:idunno
Did you see where I said my 8 girls may get 2 cups total per week.
That sounds like A LOT to me.

Basically when you feed treats they eat less of the feed and the feed is a higher Concentration of vitamin that they need. So to much treats are bad. The feed is mixed with everything a chicken needs and treats are not. Don’t get me wrong treats are fine in small amount
I know this silly...
I was confused with her math.

I wonder if the home defense spray on the window frames outside will hold them at bay.

I would cut the treats to about 1/3rd of that and see if that helps.
I also read about oats being a bad thing.

I would agree totally.
30 birds here get 2 cups of scratch to share each day and if I am giving other treats they don't get any that day. Other treats are given in the same amount that the scratch would have been.
Common misconception bugs rarely come in through the windows. Bugs come in through open doors and cracks and try to leave from the windows because of the light.

Ah I see...... We don't have very many home invading bugs here.

Still wondering if that home defense in strategic places would help.

Ok.....ill cut back on the greens but Im still confused. If they were free ranging all day wouldnt they eat a LOT more greens and berries and bugs etc. ?
I didn't do the exact math but I will tomorrow.
I would not offer your flock more than one cup of treats total per day.
I will explain tomorrow I promise.

Maybe........they would likely have more laying issues too.

Give it a go with cutting back treats and feeding back egg shells. If it helps then you will know.

Side note..... My birds refused to touch the manna pro brand oyster shell. I use pacific pearl brand and they do use that one. It actually looks like tiny shells instead of crushed dry wall.
