Official Squatch Watchers

I tend to count this as spring crazies.
I have rehomed problem birds. Sometimes it fixes things, sometimes another rises up to start being a tater.
It sounds like you have 2 that are worse then the rest.
The white Cochin and the ISA.

Your coop and run seem more than enough size wise.

You said your trying to put weight on your barred...... If the white is sensing something wrong with her that could be why she's beating her up.

Tough flock........

I would try and get some weight back on your barred and see how that goes. Its going to take some time to beef her up. Will your hospital coop hold 2 birds? I would put the SS in with her since she seems mellow enough.

As to the mean ISA.... She may straighten up with the barred and SS in the other coop. If not I am not sure what can be done.

Add hiding spots to the run maybe?
That's what I was thinking.

Oh but you have already been a very big help! Bubbles the Cochin has been on the Patent Pending RJ Miracle Diet for almost 2 weeks and it is doing wonders for her! :thumbsup

Seriously, I had never ever bought a can of salmon in my life before this month but boy am I glad I did. And she is glad too! She loves that stuff. I bet she’s thinking about faking an injury so she can have more :gig
:lol:

Things I have used for hiding spots.....
A simple bale of grass hay.
A chunk of plywood leaned up on the fence so no one can be cornered.
A couple saw horses with a chunk of plywood screwed on top.
A few buckets full of dirt lined up.

It gives places to hide and things to get up on.
I also put stashes of food behind these things so no one goes hungry.

My flock is big too. Usually anyone starting crap is outranked by someone else who puts a stop to it.

My Cochin's are special and its just Cochin's with one undersized barnevelder in that small coop. SSSSOOOOOOO MELLOW.
I was thinking when I move and make my own coop I wanted to make a shrunken Bantam only accessible area. Little Frannie girl is quick but I’m sure she’d like a friend her size and their own play area.

So, HI all!!! How is everyone? Well I hope.

This post might be a bit long, so skim if and when necessary.

:rantMy Grandmere prepaid her cremation, etc etc etc.... funeral home STILL charged my mom for a certified death certificate. Wanna know how much??? $75!!! For a single piece of &*(&(%*^ paper!!! Know how many companies REQUIRE a hard copy of a certified death certificate?!?! TOO DAMN MANY!!! Death is such a money maker for dickweeds.:rant

2 trips into town today. We went to TSC for food ONLY, saw the duckies and chickies, saw the lonely little 4 bantams. It is *required* that all the animals get sold in sets of 6, but the manager (actually, pretty darn near everyone there) knows us and likes us and said we could take the 4.

We put them *on hold* and went to Walmart to pick up MY toolbox. Guess what?!?! THAT toolbox was broken too!!!! :rant:rant:rant:rant The entire lid on both sides was cracked!!!!! I am starting to get really ticked off.... I just wanted the same toolbox I got DH 12 years ago because this thing has moved 7 times in 12 years and not a friggen scratch. Guess they don't make them like they used to...... and guess I am on the hunt for a different tool box..... Anyone wanna give some suggestions??? (EXCEPT Rudolph Jehoshaphat, cause he recommends REALLY expensive chit!!! :lau ) Looking for something like the Stanley FatMax! Wheels, sections that open, handle.

Hit Aldi. Holy CRAP did they have a TON of gluten free snack stuff!! Plus, they had their corned beef on sale for $2.89lb. We ended up spending more than expected, but left happy.

After a quick stop at Auto Zone, back to TSC we went. Chickie food, some misc stuff they had on sale (like 2 cute coffee mugs, I'll post pics later) and the bantams, we head home. THIS was trip 1.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Trip 2 was straight to Lowes. DH is going out to the field for a week, so I'm gonna put together 4 raised bed frames while he's gone. we bought some 2x10x8s and 2x8x8s. DH thought he'd be *clever* and say we had 12 boards of the 2x8x8s, cause they were like .75¢ cheaper per board. Well, joke was on him cause the dude rang up 12 boards at the 2x10x8 price, so we overpaid. Dumbass.
So, I may not be around too much tomorrow. A TON of stuff we need to complete to get Miah out to the field. But, I will be around ALLLLLL WEEEEEEK to annoy y'all!
:hugs
Aldi is fairly new to me.
I've only been once and I was quite surprised I have to pay to use the grocery cart and then they made me buy grocery bags and pack my own groceries.
I didn't mind but I was just surprised that a grocery store did that.
Are all Aldi's like this?
Sounds like a great idea!
These are great ideas! Thank you! And Bubbles is VERY special. Dumb as a door knob and afraid of everything larger than a butterfly (except two of her flock mates). Has been a derp since she was a chick too. All the other chickies had the sense to run when the great hand of doom was reaching into the brooder to pull them out. Bubbie just stood there looking around :rolleyes:. I love her though. She is very sweet and soooo soft and fluffy :love But I could never rehome her because I don’t think she could successfully integrate into a new flock. Not as a lone hen.
Looks like we have a consensus though! Bully jail! As soon I think it is safe to move Bubbles. If that doesn’t work then I will downsize. And then buy more chicks
Thank you all!!! :bow
Is Miah the PIC or the DH?
Sorry.... Not all aldi are like that.... ours, for the cart you DO need a quarter... but you get it back at the end of your shopping... and no, they don't provide bags, bring your own or wheel loose groceries out to your car and bag them there OR, if you're lucky, they'll have extra boxes you can use. This helps to keep the prices down.. and not too much different than what CostCo does....
