I am speaking to all you duck squatchies out there. I believe DH and I have decided on ducks for my birthday. Before we get the ducks (I believe we've picked either Black Swedes, Blue Swedes or Saxonys), we want to build their enclosure. We know they need a duck house. We know they need a duck pond. Someone posted a picture of a fenced in like enclosure, but it was only about 4 ft tall and didn't have any covering, like protection from hawks and such. If we built something like that, will the ducks fly out of it? Better to just get them a duck house and pond and let them free range? DH is losing his taters over this.

Nope. Ducks are fatties. Never seen anything but a call get more than 2' off the ground.

I would get a 10'x10'x6' dog run, use the duck house as one side and use the 4 sides to make a large run. This is what we did with our stationary coop. We are using snow fencing as a cover for the run.

Sweet Rae! We have a 10x10x6 dog kennel already too! Planned to use it for goats but goats are a ways away...... :wee!!!
