More serama chickies. These 2 girls sat together the whole time. I hadn't even been checking on them, but peeked yesterday and found 2 babies (4 other eggs were new or duds)
The 2 babies are at least a couple days old! They are all out in the run now.

ADORABLE! Much less stressful to walk out side and find some babies than to fret over the eggs, I imagine.

The bottom three are from my Olive Egger. Yes all three are from the same chicken! My OE just laid a purple egg:eek:

One egg remains but I think it is DIS. I will leave it for now though just in case I am wrong.

So grand total is 5 beautiful little fluffy butts. 3 boys and two girls :love I know 5 babies out of 9 developed eggs is not a very good hatch rate. But I never really needed 10 chicks. I bought 10 eggs cause I knew the hatch rate could be bad and I really wanted to get at least one pullet chick. And I got two! :woot I am planning to keep both pullet chicks and one cockerel chick. And I already found a buyer for the other two males! Double :woot

How are everyone else’s flocks doing? @21hens-incharge I loved the autocorrect! Mean Broodies should all be renamed bloodies :gig @Redhead Rae any luck fixing the Franken Bator? @pitbullmomma I believe you promised us Pippin pics? :pop @Smuvers Farm I bet you will be a hit at the farmers market!

Congrats on the babies. & Yay for getting homes for the 2 extra boys. Any idea which one you'll keep, or does it matter?

They had a full grown OEGB in a small rabbit hutch...alone....with. a sign that read " Hi, I'm Buster the new store Mascot. I'm an OEGB. Please don't feed me popcorn cuz it makes me sick". This poor pitiful rooster was on a perch. His tail down, his head tucked down into his neck, eyes closed. To say he looked sad and pitiful is an understatement. I found a store employee and asked her if they planned on keeping him in there and she said " yes...he's our new store mascot". She said this with a big smile as if it was good news. She also said " We were thinking about getting him a hen" (Oh great...that will help...then you can have 2 penned up depressed chickens) I explained to her that chickens are called FLOCK animals for a reason. Told her he looked very depressed and that keeping him in there alone was cruel. I asked if I could buy him and was told again...."Oh no...of course not... hes our new store mascot and hes not for sale". I offered her $50 and she said no. I left my cart and told her I would never shop there again. I called Smuv on my way home and told her about it. Smuv being who she is....told me to go back and steal him. Lol. Clearly not an ooption.I called the store and spoke to a manager who obviously doesn't have a clue about raising chickens. I even called the Huron County Humane Society and made a formal complaint. They were very helpful and wrote up a report and said they would check into it. Hopefully it won't be too late for that sad depressed little guy.it still just makes me sick to my stomach. So what I'm hoping is that each and every one of you will call this store and voice your concern. Maybe if enough people call and complain they will do the right thing. I'm not sure about the rules on BYC about posting phone numbers so I will just tell you....Its Rural King on Rt 20 in Norwalk OH.

That's terrible. They should at least know that he should get to go outside. It's possible that he goes home w/ someone at night and doesn't live there full time, but why would you want to keep a rooster in a store. They're soooo loud, or is he too little to crow yet? Ugh.. either way, he shouldn't live there full time & they should know better. You could also write something on the TSC fb page. If you aren't going to, let me know... I will.

Holy wow. I'm so glad you're ok. I hate when people come over unannounced. Next time someone pops in tell them to call you before coming over b/c they woke you up (whether they did or not) and you'd rather have notice so you can be prepared for visitors (be awake, go toilet before they arrive, brush the crumbs off your shirt, etc). If they say they don't mind, tell YOU mind and if they could do it for you, you'd appreciate it. If you make it sound like they're doing you a favor jerk faces tend to pay more attention than if you make it sound like you're doing it for them... IDK why... people are dumb. Anyway.. I hope you heal fast (& your hubby too.) Good luck w/ your babies tomorrow! Are they in an incubator, or is one of your girls sitting on them?

We got my car fixed-ish. Couldn't echeck b/c they won't run anything 04 or newer on the rollers to test it, have to wait til the codes come back. So I had to go up this am and get a 30 day tag. I despise echeck. I seriously do. My dad's going to have my cousin look at the car this weekend to see if it's safe to keep it running or better to scrap it. (Ohio+winter=Salt.. lots and lots of salt = rust). Though I wouldn't mind a newer car, I don't want to deal with a car payment, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to avoid it.
