Official Squatch Watchers

Happy Friday morning kids! Bear with me just a couple more days. Once this TSC Farmers Market is done on Saturday, I plan on laying in bed ALL day Sunday and playing catch up.... AND building my website.

@TexasSam I had my tonsils out in March of 1980.... the same day Reagan got shot. It took them almost a year to schedule the surgery because my tonsils kept getting infected close to the scheduled surgery time. That was a horrid year.

@staceyj and @CapricornFarm I keep BEGGIN the STDH for separate bedrooms because of his snoring AND his CPAP machine AND his going to bed so early. Currently he is STILL refusing, so he has to deal with the telly staying on and me on my laptop or reading or cross stitching until I can sleep.

Only 6 vendors going to set up at the TSC.... I hear one is going to be someone with local raw honey. I'm looking forward to him coming so I can (hopefully) become friendly and maybe get to see his bee set up.

We currently have a HUGE pot of well seasoned boiled peanuts, about 20 dozen eggs, hatching eggs collected since Monday and that's about it.

Morning from me too.

@staceyj I can ask him if he would do a video. He is gone fishing a lot this time of year. I know today is Friday so he is likely headed to Nebraska around 10am with the boat. If I am lucky he will bring us some walleye.

I dug in the garden to much yesterday. Kinda sore this morning. I was going to use the little garden tiller but it is out of its fuel mixture and hubby would have a fit if I mixed it wrong. He lent it to his friend 2 years ago and it came back all screwed up. It ended up in the shop it was so bad.
Just me, my shovel, 21 chickens and a lot of fighting the already hard ground.
:tongue
Hubby sold our tiller when we left TN to move to FL and help my parents. So its me, my shovel and rock hard clay. Its easier if you water it the night before. I add sand and composted manure.

Hoping for great results at the sale for you Smuv! I ordered my business cards, and they have been shipped. Hope to get them before the sale on the 19th.

Well, I've had an interesting couple of days. On Wednesday, I noticed that my ankles were a bit swollen, so I took my blood pressure with my wrist cuff. It told my my blood pressure was 200/150 over the last two days it has varied between that and 139/98, usually in the higher range. Well, I was looking for insight on a FB group and someone asked if my cuff was giving me problems. So after chasing the Milk Drinker around, walking up the steps in my parents' house, my mom's arm cuff read 139/79. :he

A lot of worry for nothing.

That 139 should be more like 120. So you still have hypertension.

I had just been running around like a crazy lady just before. I'm sure if I rested for 15 min prior like the manual suggested, it would have been in the normal range.

I'm sure you will be the hit of the farmers market.
As for the bee guy, see how friendly he is. Tell him you find bee keeping interesting and offer to host a hive on your property. Depending on the area and the beekeeper they like to move the bees to new areas. Then you can pick his brain when he comes over to work the hive.

That surgery i had was called a UPPP. They quit doing it because it is ineffective. Just practising medicine, idiots.
Wow.. I know they have to start somewhere when they do new surgeries, but didn't think they just whipped them out on regular people.

It sucks. She was one I wanted to keep. Now I have just 2 BO left. One is cross beaked and the other is not friendly.

The mean as heck BSL are doing great of course.

We are going to be breaking heat records and now I am all worried about my Brahma and giant Cochins.

:barnie
We saw tiny wading pools for $8 at the dollar store near us that we're thinking about getting. We also have the shade tarps over parts of the run. Luckily in the afternoon 1/2 of the run is covered in the shade of the coop. The part Olive's in has a short deck that she can get under if the shade tarp isn't enough. Odin's space is covered in a regular tarp and his space doesn't see sunlight until the afternoon. I freeze watermelon when it's really hot, but it's hard getting it into their space b/c it's pretty much inaccessible unless I cut off about a dozen pull ties first. I need to get more vents put in the front of the coop to help with air flow. It's cool up here this weekend so heat isn't a concern right now. I saw something where they say to freeze veggies in blocks of ice, has anyone tried that? I'm slightly concerned that it might hurt their beaks. Like I know they peck at everything, but would ice hurt them?

Picture it: In permanent sleep residence are 2 full sized humans, half a human (PIC), 2 dogs (30 and 40 pounds respectively). 3 cats rotate in and out throughout the night... all this in a king sized bed. Yeesh

If someone gives you bollocks for protecting your pullets from predators... tell em to piss off! (see what I did there?!? ) :D
Oh wow.... That's a lot of bodies. I like how you specified the 1/2 human was PIC and not literally 1/2 of a human. lololol

I will be adding more shade cloth to the cochin run. The big house has gigantic lilacs and tall trees so always has shaded areas.

On the left the roof of the coop is visible. The lilacs grew like crazy this year.
Wow, that looks nice.

Thank you. I put those 2 there for shade for my gals. I think there are like 19 total here. They smell AMAZING.
That's a brilliant idea... I bet the lilacs helps w/ the chicken smell... Do you have a bee problem b/c of them?

Ahhh, nothing like the blood curdling screams the first time it rains on your chicks. I lead them to the dry spot under the coop, don't worry i'm not mean enough to let them melt or float away.;)
Mine still run to the coop when it rains which is nice b/c sometimes it suddenly storms here and that way we don't have to chase them around so much. We do have some that are stupid and pretend there isn't any rain and keep eating... not a problem when it's a light rain, but the big storms they keep worm hunting like idiots.

You are burning my retinas :eek:from all the way over here!
STOP! :gig:gig:gig
You need to blast some sir mix alot when they're visiting.

One part of being half of a late Middle Aged couple (he’s late. I’m just middle)
DH says Wow I’m tired.
WE have to go to bed now.

then we go to bed and he makes me turn out the light and no tv.... because he’s a person that needs it pitch black and silent to sleep.

It’s like I’m 9.

I lie there for hours. Worrying about things.

If I get up, he wakes up and gets mad.

There is something to be said for homes with two master bedrooms.

Goodnight friends.
I have to go to bed now because he has a meeting early.
Are you one of those horrible people who turns on the light when you go to bed? If not, then what's the big deal w/ you staying up? Does he think you're out painting the town red while he's sleeping? Or is he one of those weirdos who NEEDS to have you there or he can't sleep? Like they can feel your presence. He'd last 2 seconds w/ me b/c I have to get up at least once a night to pee.

I'm on Micardis for hypertension (thanks PIC!!! ya arse), and take my bp about 3 times a day. Please be very careful with that.... too easy to have heart issues or a stroke from hypertension.

I went 3 months with a migraine that was caused by hypertension and didn't know it....
