Well had another hawk encounter today I think we identified it as a
Northern Goshawk teen it wasn't big enough to be adult. My wife heard the flock screaming and yelling and went to investigate with our dog Rita. The dog chased the hawk off. The funny thing is my bantam Cochin Hannibal was the one confronting the hawk while Henry the big rooster was corralling the girls behind him and screaming his head off. That little bantam has some balls. The gist of the story is the tag team of my two boys stopped the hawk from getting the girls. Now that hawk knows there is a dog hanging around hopefully. How is everyone doing today

Good pics in this article @Rubysword

And that is why I am on here so much. Always learning something.

Truth be told ....
I have raised about 160 birds over the years.
Lost only 2 as chicks, one got to cold and one was super weak to begin with.
Lost adults of course, one to illness looking back water belly. 3 to heart failure. 1 to egg binding and one to internal laying.

I feel like I have been super lucky.

LOVE your new Avatar Sam!!!!!!

Best rooster I have ever had was a bantam Cochin. Always with an eye on the sky and bravery beyond belief.
