Crossing the Road
I will say Thoreau is a very laid back rooster and is very protective of the babies

They almost don’t look real. Like decorative chickens from home goods! Here is my Serama Momma Monique and her babies. One is frizzled and one is silkied. Not sure of their sex yet. Hoping both are girls but I swear I heard one trying to crow last weekView attachment 1570538 View attachment 1570539

So my morning started at 8 with crowing coming from the basement! I got an audio recording but no video. His little helium crow cracks me up. And of course it echos around the basement.
I unhobbled Glayds to see how her leg is. It's had a little scabby spot on her hock from her using it to step down on. Its been drying up and flaking off. So today when I unwrap it I see the scab is picked up a bit. I scratch it a little and gross liquidy pus comes out.

She had a giant hole in her leg! I got some nasty stuff out of it. Looked like old blood, and a little cheesey pus stuff. I can't tell what's what. I sprayed it with vetricyn and rinsed it a couple times. Of course the majority of my first aid kit is with the flock. So I gobble some honey on it and a cotton pad and wrapped her up again. I knew the hock was swollen but it wasn't red or warm. I thought it was from her using it like a foot... I guess not. I'll have to keep an eye on it.
That's the best thing I've seen all day.PSA From one of Janet's freinds.
At least her problem finally showed itself. Is she out of the sling now?So my morning started at 8 with crowing coming from the basement! I got an audio recording but no video. His little helium crow cracks me up. And of course it echos around the basement.
