Question:

Does anyone here have any experiences they’d like to share about purchasing a “mattress in a box”?

I’m looking for brand?
How hot is it? Etc.

In desperate need of a new mattress and don’t want to deal with the nonsense of dealing with the salespeople.
(Too much like used car slimeballs)
Haven't tried it myself, but I know consumer reports has good things to say about Casper. They have highly ranked their mattresses the last couple years.

(from CR) "Casper mattresses are sold mostly online, with free shipping, though the company also has two showrooms in New York City and Los Angeles. Although you can’t try out the mattress in most parts of the country, you get a 100-night trial with free, no-hassle returns. Another plus: This brand was one of the brands rated highly for in overall satisfaction in our survey of more than 49,000 Consumer Reports members"

ETA: DH and I bought a new mattress last year so I spent a LOT of time reading about different brands. So I remember CR talking about Casper as being a good option.

@staceyj Here is the full review for their signature mattress.

Thanks!
I’ve read so many reviews my head is spinning.
We just bought a new mattress five years ago.
It is so bad.
It’s like we sleep in two deep trenches with a mountain in the middle.
You know a mattress is shot when even the dog wakes up miserable in the morning.

I am ready to try something new but I’m not ready to go as far as the cost of a top of the line temperpedic.

What the heck is a mattress in a box

I can vouch for the casper, it is a nice mattress. Not hot at all, just make sure your box springs are sturdy it dosen't have much support without good springs. Purple mattress sucks, they stink and are hot. Ghostbed is on par with casper. I quit buying store mattresses when I got a "new" one with a big fat mystery stain.:sick

Caper just came out with a new one. The “wave”. It’s their first new one in a long time.

They also have a basic and of course the classic which was updated a few years ago and is a crowd fav.

Interestingly, the classic one is now available through Costco and costs much less than the Casper price on their website.

Costco also has an exclusive brand called the Novaform which gets comparable outstanding reviews.

I just wish I knew someone who had one.
