Morning folks :frow

It works for a lot of plants.:yesss:

Morning Bob :frow.

I am hoping to get good berries with the experiment.
They take up a lot of land when grown in the ground. Then there's the bugs and birds :hmm.
I am even going to try and overwinter them in the tiny greenhouse.

I am getting pretty antsy to get the garden work started.

Oh and it's snowing right now.

Me too, just way too much mud right now.

@21hens-incharge I have a cousin that married into a Vietnamese family. Most of whom still live in Vietnam. The stories I heard of how they grow everything they eat on a tiny plot of land in the city were amazing. They even have fish that fertilize the water for the plants before becoming dinner themselves. It's all vertical. There is so little space and so little soil that almost every plant is hung from the high fencing that surrounds the courtyard.

those little german yellow jackets will attack for no good reason..:rant I poison them in the nests every chance..one of the few times I use poison... except for the ones that were in the poultry yard. ..2016 birds went crazy and it was them attacking the birds. Fortunately the bugs were in an area I could shut off until late fall.. then the birds dug them up and ate them.:ya
I love when the chickens take care of the pest problems for me! In the fall when it'd start getting cooler I'd let the chickens out and they'd go through the field chasing & eating these giant mosquito looking things.

It was some sort of wasp that stung me in the hand. I didn't know it was there and squeezed it, so it stung me. Then in pain and passed as hell I killed it. (Felt a little bad)
But I'll never forget that sting or the week and half after.
I never feel bad about killing something that stings. Every time I've been bit/ stung by something that area swells up. At work once some yellow jackets decided to make a home under a flap for a network wire on the outside of a school we delivered to. I was the one that found them the hard way, my finger swelled up so bad I ended up stopping at McDonald's on my way back to the office so I could put my finger in ice. Those things are the devil.

I was still pulling ticks off the dog in January!
I found a few on Tubbs in the Fall, but he goes traipsing around in the woods. We didn't really see any last summer. I assume the chickens found them first. Has anyone ever seen a tick on a chicken before? I've not, but I've also never looked for any.

I'm about done dealing with one of my accounts. They don't give me supplies or access to them then complain about the job I'm doing. Of course the floor is dirty. You haven't supplied me with a new mop head in months.
Now to top it off there is some A-Hole putting his used needles in his trash. Not only is that unsafe its illegal. They keep saying they are reprimanding him but I've reported him 6x. 6! What does it take for them to fire him? 12?
That's a major health violation. The employer could supply him w/ a safe disposal place if it's for medical purposes, otherwise, when my mom needed shots after her hip replacement the hospital told me to use a detergent bottle and to tape it closed when we were done, and throw it in the trash.
Maybe print these out for them: https://safeneedledisposal.org/state-search/?state=OH

It's unsafe for anyone who empties the trash and if the person requires medication they should know how to properly dispose of the needles, which means they're a carp person. The business might be avoiding the subject w/ the employee b/c they don't want to rock the boat w/ someone w/ a medical issue, but you shouldn't be risking your health to empty the trash can of an inconsiderate person.

I am going to try this!

All y'all with big pieces of property just gotta understand. I am on a city lot. I gotta get creative.

Great idea! I've seen the topsy turvy thing for strawberries. My mom tried it, but the plants didn't stay like they're supposed to.

I am getting a brinsea octagon with the cradle for $175! I already have eggs to hatch.
Ooooo Are you hatching for sale or for keeping?

I wanted to thank y'all for the laughs, I definitely needed them. Gurtrude's definitely showing more interest in things than she has the past few days, though it's obvious she still feels under the weather. I'm gonna head to bed early tonight, like 1 a.m., instead of the normal 3:30. Last night wasn't good for getting sleep, and I need to be up early.
Glad to hear she's doing better. Fingers cross that she keeps improving.

Finally got my birds wormed last night. The bread trick worked like a charm, though the 2 new ones took a minute to catch on. I treated them one at a time and tossed them out of the coop so I could keep them separated. Toothless was the only one who got out before she got treated, but she's pretty easy to tell apart from the rest.

We're supposed to warm up this weekend and I was going to open the back pop door Saturday and leave it open until Sunday night.. but now I'm seeing high wind warnings. I'll probably leave it open anyway. They need more space to get away from each other & it should be warm enough that it won't matter. The tarp over the run should keep most of the rain from getting into the door.

Just remember you’ll probably have to water
every day or set up a drip irrigation line for it.
The problem with Vertical gardening is if you go away you need someone to come water for you or when you come back everything will be dead.

Another option that I’ve never tried but have always been curious about is putting a baby diaper in the bottom of each vessel.
The gel stuff in the diaper is supposed to hold in water.

That incubator is mine, all mine! I used to have cabinet bators but sold them when we moved.

He uses a rag through the neck of the bottle and into the white tube that is filled with water. A wicking bed without the massive space. :p

I would definitely be checking it often.
