A chicken roaming the neighborhood, and wanting a warm, dry place for the night is how Gurtrude entered our lives. Maybe someone will do the same thing with the OP's chickens.

Hi Bob and everybody! Sorry I haven't been on here for a couple of days. I hope your dog is doing better by now (I had to look up LGD, what breed of dog is he?) How old is he? Is his shoulder still swollen and hot? Usually a pulled muscle doesn't present that way (they are just sually lame). Swollen and hot makes me worry about infection...do you have ticks there? Have you noticed any ticks on him? I know that's alot of questions but vetting is alot of detective work!
Rest for an acute injury is always good, and recommended That said do youo have any doggie NSAIDs (such as Rimadyl or Deramaxx) around the house? If not, aspirin is safe for dogs, but I would have to look up a dose based on weight...
I usually don't have any problem with avoiding feed store chicks. I like looking at them, but almost all the chicks in our feed stores look sick, and clearly are not the labeled breeds. Plus I don't want any chicks not started on organic feed. I'm clearly a hard-hearted, unnatural person.
Hey guys, look what my FIL found this morning.

Apparently, one of my Bantam Cochin/Chocolate Orps went broody and hid eggs. We aren't' sure how many more there are out there. It just shows what I good broody can do. I need to see if any more babies are going to hatch and if any of the eggs are underdeveloped I need to bring them in and put them in the incubator.
I guess that shows me for talking about being able to resist chicks......
It is! Looks like it is going to be a splash.real cutie ray
