Official Squatch Watchers

I am running my own private zoo here. :)
I'm considering geese now. Face my fears sort of thing. Husband actually said it was cool. :celebrate

I actually really liked my geese. My gander would face off with me during breeding season. He never but or flogged so it was all good.

You know I wonder if when the Squatch call for help goes out and we all go over to give advice....
Does the OP think "Oh good! Help has arrived."
Or is it more like the locusts descended?

OH poop. I just threw my 2 cents in over there.
:(

Can they live with my chickens and muscovy in my large shed? Or are they wandering troublemakers like my turkeys. They are best in their own shed and run. They are a bunch of thugs.

I'd wager both thoughts cross the mind of the distressed soul. Great thing though in this group somebody knows something that will help even if it is a bit "unusual". I mean a couple days ago I told you chickens can take mucinex.:lau

Mine lived with my small ducks. I had silver appleyard, cayuga, pekin and black swedish.
They had a pen that was 1/3rd of an acre but when everyone had babies there were 78 in there until I got the babies all sold. In harsh temps they shared a big horse stall in the barn. No one was mean.

My geese were Toulouse.

True story....

They were in their pen when a really bad hailstorm hit very quickly. My gander stood by the corner fence post with his wings out while his mate and every duck that could fit hid under them. He was really beat up by it but he stood his ground. That hail was quarter size and bigger.

I really liked that gander.

I think I may go ahead and try a few. Husband is always willing to eat any troublemakers.

Are geese monogamous? One hen, one gander? Or like chickens? One male to rule them all?

This spring weather must fry chicken brains. Went to lock up Tucks was on the nest, weird but it happens. I'm waiting on them to go roost then I see Ethel squatting and it looks like she's about to die in the yard then POP out comes an egg!
They are so busy eating they didn't go lay then tried to squeeze it in. Ethel and Tucks lay at the same time almost always, such odd birds.:barnie

 I got lucky and had a pair to start with.
Actually I got lucky with all the ducks too. I had pairs of every breed I had.

I know my gander was very devoted to his mate. He would escort her from the nest to food and water then back. Kinda bossy lol.
