Mini rant:

Hubby is getting WAY to needy.
This morning I made him gravy to go with leftover biscuits. Nothing special but it was what he wanted.
Just as I said "I gotta get to the birds." and picked up the feed bucket I hear " How do I heat the biscuits? ".........

Seriously?.......
You are kidding right?

Microwaves have been around for a while now!
I regularly send him with cold biscuits and cold sausage patties inside.........

How the tater is he eating those???

I have seen him USE A MICROWAVE!! :barnie

Unbelievable!! Tatering ridiculous!!!!!!

USE THE MICROWAVE FOR THE LOVE OF JEBUS!!!
:smack
Haha! This is my every single flippin day. Almost had mine trained until I had to replace the microwave and it had one whole extra button.:gig

I don’t have a broody video to share, but just recorded Henrietta work on 15 crumbles for 5 minutes! And she had a surprise at the end.
Way to go Henrietta! Sassy I know you've offered that hen absolutely everything on earth to eat but have you tried baby food? I'm serious, they love meat baby food, turkey, chicken, beef just as long as it is meat.
Last sick one here ate it every day.:)

I ordered 4 different breeds in January. Then the Thursday before I was supposed to pick them up I got email after email that breeds were unavailable. 3 of the 4! At first I was going to sub in 2 more chicks of an available breed but it just have me the creeps. Something didn't feel right about 3 breeds not hatching. So I cancelled the order.

I got in touch with County Line Rainbow Eggs. She's around the corner and explained my order was kaput and my mamma was waiting. So I picked up chicks from her on Friday.

I sadly lost 2 the first night. They squeezed themselves out of the crate and away from mom. She is happily taking care of the rest of them.

And now 2 young bantam Cochins want babies of their own. The joy of broodies!
Thats a shame about Meyers Hatchery but glad you found some babies close to home

I have options. The lady I got the birds and eggs from is going out of town. (Why I got the eggs to hatch) She was looking for someone to check on her birds over the weekend. I said I would and she asked what I wanted for the work. I laughed and said I do have 24 eggs in my basement. So I may take more chicks.

I’m sure I’ll take more chicks.
I saw her post about that... and that she needed farm hands. Sounds like she's got a ton of birds up there. IDK how she manages w/ all the eggs she's always got hatching. I'd be freaking out about having too many & no one buying them.

How is the air quality there lately? I developed allergy induced asthma as an adult. I get those same symptoms (feels-like-your-bra-is-too-tight tight-chestedness, elevated pulse etc) when there are high pollen counts, smog, or other environmental allergens. Also, did they check your peak flows? It is the test where you blow into a tube as hard as you can to check lung function. Mine are usually terrible
Not great.. spring = pollen clouds. Good point though.. I'll start taking allergy pills and see if that helps. I know my daughter's allergies are bad right now. She's been taking atarax every night, her arms look terrible and her cheeks are very red (weird skin problems). They did a bunch of blow real hard tests and they said everything looked good. That test was torture. Like drowning w/o water.

About to remove the coop poop but I had to boot the broodies out first...this is the process.:gig
I love that they're all puffed up.. are they even sitting on eggs?

Those aren't broody hens.
This is a broody!
If you listen she screeches and Pat answers.:lau
Wow, she sounds like you're trying to murder her.

I am NOT good with condensed updates but......

Nunny got chicks closer to home since Meyers would not be able to fill her order she placed forever ago.
A broody is raising them. She is a good broody.....2 chicks managed to wander off from her though and did not make it.
She also has some very pretty hatching eggs and an incubator..... Chicky has Derp eggs she can mail her too....:lau

Rae is making progress on the homestead. An ornery chicken obsessed guinea has been sold! Her house is still moving forward toward completion. T1 got stung on the finger by a nasty wasp but is recovering well.

Cappy has not told us how many Derps she got at Rural King.
:hmm Inquiring minds need to know!

Sassy's bird Henrietta is still not eating well. :(

Miss May got a stay of execution because she is up and about a bit more.

Of course I know I missed a bunch of goings on.
Glad May seems to be doing better!

Good morning everyone.

I am not feeling well today. Any time I get up and move I start feeling sick to my stomach. Fortunately, I was able to get Thing 1 off to my parents and now I'm logging into work. I really feel like I could use a 2 hour nap. Thing 1 woke me up at 6am. I think I need to get blackout curtains because he's been getting up with the sun.
Blackout curtains are the best thing ever. If you don't have time to get some right now you can safety pin a throw blanket to the curtain.

Yeah Nashville is great but I wouldn't want to live there. My niece lives in an awesome apartment right downtown so there was always something to do within walking distance. She loves it there....its definitely a place for the young. She is 29 so for her its perfect.
We went to the Johnny Cash Museum, the Grand Ole Opry, Top Golf ( I had no idea what this was before I went, If you have never been you'll have to Google it), lots and lots of bars and even did an Escape Room. It was a blast but Im glad to be home.
You had a Grand Ole time! How was the Escape room? Those sound like so much fun.

It is very stressful!
This morning she ate some scratch and a bit of boiled chopped egg on her own. When I separate her she adamantly refuses to eat but in the group she eats a small amount.
:barnie

Edited because autocorrect is stupid.
Not sure why the tater the quote is all messed up either....:hmm
She said it is kind of medium sized. Not huge like a big wasp.
I came up with a muddauber wasp and told her since she has a balcony with lots of surrounding trees to look at the bricks around her door for those tube shaped wasp nests. They might be coming in unnoticed when she and her roommate go in and out.

Today I’ll be running around again. Getting ready for a sister’s weekend. They are both a LOT older than me and keep reminding me of that, plus we haven’t seen each other in 5 years.

Looking forward to it and also a little nervous because they are like 2 bossy mothers to me. Lol.[/QUOTE]
Also look around any shutters that might be on windows. Hopefully it was just a scout looking for a good place to build a nest.

Henrietta had a nice green clover poop this morning and she looks good.
Glad she's feeling better!

Sounds like my kids. Helpless as a newborn baby.

We have a Top Golf in Huntsville. The bars used to have really great bands and play country music. Now, every bar has 3-5 stages, the music quality is not as good and now there is a lot of techno, rap, etc being played in downtown Nashville. So wrong on so many levels! Maybe that just shows I am grown up since I don’t like the change.
luckily we didn't go into any bars that played techno or rap......mostly country and rock. Jason Aldeans bar was great. We went up to his rooftop bar and the view was awesome. Outdoor fireplaces too. That was my favorite. Kid Rocks was cool but not as much country music.

So far that is where the out breaks have come from-- people sneaking infected chickens out of the quarantine zone.

All of those that were infected would be dead too. It in universally fatal to chickens.
I can't seem to find information on how large a area would be placed under quarantine if it's found just as precaution and what would be the area that would be mandatory euthanasia. I've just found out that a place 2.7 miles from me is being inspected due to chickens being smuggled back from a CA location that was under quarantine.
