:yesss: They are adorable! Did you pick them up on the bike?

Lol no. I went for chicken food and dog food for Delilah. That would be to much weight in the trunk.
Besides....didn't we determine I could fit 600+ chicks on the bike?
:lau

I think I might have a bad boy out there. Watched Hobo's kid follow Beavis around the tractor, the whole time he's doing this long drawn out peep. She stuck her face to the fence and the little goober flogged.
He's still just a baby, but he was intense he wasn't playing.:hmm

Not nice!! He is going to get such a pinch when they are all together.

She needed a challenge Henny, the little bit of extra age is just icing on the cake.;)

I can hear them scream from the house.
I run out thinking Bitty is murdering them!
Nope she is trying to shove them under her and they are being.....derpy.
:gig

I have a little Houdini on my hands! Made sure to get the HW cloth up on the bottom part of the fence before I let mamma and babies loose. They have been free for a few days and I've seen them outside in the run. I run errands today and get home to see a little running the fence, ON THE OUTSIDE, peeping its head off. Mamma and 3 chicks on the inside calling and calling. I run out and snag the little stinker. Then feel it...

Cold mud between my toes! Forgot the boots in my rush to make sure the baby was ok. I reunite the baby but there is another missing. Mamma still calling so I figure it can't be far. I'm walking the fence looking and looking and all I can hear is the other babies. Then all of a sudden it saunters out if the coop and stretches. I think it was in there napping! They have found they can hide behind the nest boxes. They were gleefully playing chase in and around the boxes while their mother frantically called them. Then she went to the corner and made one stern "Buk kok" and they all went over and snuggled in.

Thanks for letting me know. Faverolle are certainly a different kind of chicken. :)

Derps are what folks on this thread call Salmon Faverolles. Chickassin has told us many stories of the....specialness...of this breed.

Note that Derp can be used as almost any part of speech. Verb, noun, adjective, exclamation—get creative with it!

Derp is a loving nickname for salmon faverolle chickens.

So far Bitty wants to care for them but being already 5 days old they don't listen well.

Ah yes, Hobo of the famously sweet disposition, right?
Yep, the queen "B" herself.:D

I've found Dominique cross cockerels to royal pains in the tater. Oddly enough, my Cochin/Doms were worse than my New Hampshire/Doms.
Never seen anything quite like him, think this will be a one time experiment.:lau

Oh he's going to have a rude awakening for sure. Once they're loose there isn't a thing I can do for him.
Enjoy those sweet derpy screams, they have amazing lung capacity yes? :p

Lol that is putting it mildly. :lau

I have had to run out several times already. Chicky wasn't kidding about how they can scream.
:th

Bitty is trying very hard to work with these crazy chicks.:lau

While at the feed store their person dealing with the chicks prior to today had mixed them up some. There were Columbian Wyandotte in with Spitzhaubens. Honestly.....they were charging $8 for the Wyandotte and $4 for the spitz......:hmm Still....when you buy a spitz you expect a spitz.
The gal on chick duty today dislikes chickens. She thinks they are disgusting.

I tried to make her get the derps for me. :gig

Nope she handed me the box and said go for it.
The derps were also in with the spitz. Easy to tell those apart.
I sorted the others for her while I was there.

Wow, wish they'd let me do that when I want to buy fish. :lau I hate tapping on the glass saying " no, this one."

I would have snagged a few Wyandotte as well myself. :). I would have no self control.

That is some serious mud!
Hahahaha!!!! Mom grounded them!

I could have at the Derp price. She thought they were more Faverolle.
The only Wyandotte I ever liked in my flock was a Columbian and that was 25 years ago.
:th

I just checked on Bitty and she has the kids tucked in tight. :yesss:
