Good afternoon, cloudy and drizzly out there. Made the kids a tarp roof so they can graze and not get their precious butts drizzled on.
Still needs improvement, but I can't be playing with a tarp around any chickens instant freakout ya'll know.
Tried yesterday after I put the littles in the coop because I knew it was supposed to rain and I swear the other ones made a special trip just to freak out over the tarp.
I planned on having the run done by now, not much grass in there but dirt and bugs out the yang.
I don't have it done because the post office's time machine is obviously broken and they have my plastic fence.:gigView attachment 1770638
I feel your pain. I ordered my hardware wire on Saturday from TSC, it's Friday and it's still processing. I can only imagine that they're making the 4'x100' 1/2 wire mesh by hand as it's ordered. Otherwise I have no reason at all why it's taking so damn long. I get that b/c I did it site to store that I'm going to be waiting until a truck is coming to the store, but they should have processed the order by now.

My fence just arrived and the wierdness continues.
I bought the fence from Ebay, had to message guy to ship it because I already waited a week. I paid 23.65 for the fence, it has a shipping label that cost 32.95? :hmm

It will be easier to do it as a family. I am glad your son is on board. My 13 yo is so picky, he takes after me. I wouldn’t eat a salad until I was 27. Now at 43, I will eat many things. I am
growing up. Haha!

It does take the pressure off knowing that eventually only ok things will be in the house. Less temptation that way.

Mining, sorting, smelting it all takes time. :gig

As much as it has been a shock I think we are both at the "well this is how it is" point.
I talked with my son a bit this morning about the dietary changes we have to make. He said he is onboard to improve his diet too.
So the whole house is getting a diet upgrade.

OH MY!! You are going to be up to your armpits in cute fuzzy babies!

:woot
Can he use the Mio stuff? i know they have different varieties & I think they have sugar free kinds too.

I will have a look at those things today when I take the nasty water back.
I really don't know if he can or not. The doctor did also say today away from the artificial sweeteners.

@21hens-incharge I can't give you too much advice on the health issues. I can tell you guys protein is awesome and everything in moderation.
You do have a coop full of snack and egg dish machines out there and they're good for you both.:)

That we certainly do. :) Lots of cute and pretty snack machines.
:lau

I did read that eggs are ok. Now to get hubs to eat them other than just for breakfast.

Tree nuts and string cheese he said he could do as a snack item.
:thumbsup Those are on the shopping list.

I have never heard of making your own flour. Please tell me more.
You can make flour using a good mixer!

First step is to get wheat berries

Hard red or hard white wheat works best. You can also use spelt and other grains too

Then mill the flour:

This is my kitchenaid mill.

Like I said, you can also use a good blender to mill the flour.

I fill the hopper with the berries and then add all purpose white flour to get the dough to the correct consistency for bread.

Here is a batch:

I use a wondermill and make both flour and cornmeal. I haven't figured out the setting for grits.
