Oh no, did you check for mites?
Yeah. No mites or lice or worms. This is my older Brahma that has been limping off and on for quite a while now. She is over 6 years old.

I am boiling a couple eggs so I can try to get food to her. I will mix it with a bit of mash and feed her separate from all the piggies in the flock.

Try giving her a heat source, vitamins and electrolytes.

I think sadly it is just her time. I tried to feed her....full flat out refusal. I checked for egg binding....she is clear. I gave her a direct dose of Nutri-drench. She is a fluffy bird and I set her in the sunbeam. We are 40° right now. I don't want to overheat her. There is no breeze where she is at.
She has struggled over the years with pendulous crop and has been showing signs of heart trouble. Her crop is empty but at coop closing last night was about 1/2 full. I have been keeping a close watch on her her whole life.

Good to be back Bob!
Squirrel you got half a graham cracker for breakfast but I think he'd really rather had the whole thing.

I'm alive but crazier than a loon!
Four days of "i dunno, when im coming in" and I couldn't reschedule anything on my end for him because of travel alerts he put on his payments.
The one saving grace is he brought home a ton of chocolate even a bunch of the little booze filled ones.:)
At least you got something good for all the wait. Jealous about the boozy chocolates.

Here's my young silkie pullet...

I love their fluffy little heads.

In the land of "Well S**t". Cinders was ok yesterday but not so much today. 😞

Today she will not stand. Yesterday she was eating and walking around the yard with the flock.
Oh no! I'm so sorry! I hope she gets better for you and starts to eat. It's hard when they get older.. who am I kidding, it's hard all the time. :hugs

It's ok. She has had a good life here. I really didn't expect her to see spring really.

Truth here I am going to seriously downsize my chickens this year. I have ordered 7 ducks....they live longer and tend not to have the health issues chickens do.

I will sell the 2 to 3 year olds I am keeping last years pullets and the elderly birds.

Hi guys! How have you been? What did I miss?

Sorry about Cinders @21hens-incharge. That sucks.

Things have been busy for me. But I just got on to let you know about a package I just got. 27 Cornish X, 6 Brown Leghorns, 6 BCM (I think. They are some sort of maran in any case) and 6 blue/splash ameraucanas.

He was in Obertshausen, they had their first snow of the season while he was there so it looks like weird weather is everywhere.

:frow Good morning Chicky, have a great day

Yup, they start kids out 30 days before birth by giving mom 30 bottles of kid beer with instructions to drink one a day. kid beer is less than 1% by volume but loaded with vitamins and other good stuff. As the kids grow, they start adding real beer to the kid beer, until they are eventually drinking all real beer. What part of Germany was he in?

Henny, im so sorry.
Glad you were with her. :hugs
Well I knew she didn't have long. Cinders has passed.
I was out sitting with her.
I had a call in to the vet but not needed now.
