Webster is perfect! I love it!

After what felt like an eternity checking ingredient labels and mill dates I went with MannaPro 18% protein medicated starter to get them going. I will shift to unmedicated (if I can find some that isn’t old:he ) once what I bought runs out.
Oh and I remember you warning me about needing tiny bits of food so I will run it through the food processor before putting it in the feeders.

I still have a pack of puppy pad left from dog owning days so I will start the babies on those for the first couple days.

Waterers were a big concern since these are my first banties. I really hope the quail bases work out:fl
They work great!

They will be fine to use. I have been known to put marbles in my chick waterers for a week with bantams. The quail dishes shouldn't need them.

Sorry about Cinders, 21. And also your aunt, Rae.

This has been an interesting week. This was my first week as manager. Monday - Wed were normal. Despite being nervous things were pretty easy and straight forward. I'm getting 1 fulltime person to replace me and I'll have another 20 hr person. I expect my current 20 person to apply for the ft position & then we'll hire a new pt person. They're having trouble rewriting my former job description to separate out the 2 jobs I did. They also had to rewrite the 20 hr position b/c it wasn't correct. I've got a buttload off $$ to spend. Like an overwhelming amount. $60k, normally it'd be 30k, but they carried over the $$ from last year, which they normally do not do, but this was a special circumstance. I'm already working on the budget & deciding what to buy. Talked about our needs w/ the director and he's on board w/ everything so now I just need to get the plan down on paper and we'll get things done....
Except.
Yesterday Ohio's gov closed all the schools b/c of the covid 19 virus. That was a big shock, but it's ok.. it is what it is.. My kids' school closed today, will be open on Monday so teachers can give out assignments and they will be out until April 6th.
Then today, the last day of my first week of being a manager... the library (and many others around the state) are closed for at least the next 3 weeks.
So now all of the ordering is on hold, hiring is on hold. I won't have a new person until at least July now.
Our 1st dance comp was postponed w/ no idea of what they're doing, submitting videos of the performances is a possibility. The 2nd was rescheduled for the end of May, which is conveniently on Graduation weekend. The 3rd isn't until Mid April so maybe we'll be ok for that one.
I get it, it's ok... it's just a lot to process at once.
My kids had been a little sick & the younger one had missed most of the week. She's the one w/ health issues anyway & her breathing problems made me worried, so like I said, I'm ok w/ it. I understand why, it just feels strange to be doing this. The last time I had 3 weeks off of work I had just had a baby. We're getting calamity pay, so that's nice.. not that I don't have enough sick/ vaca time to cover it.
Chickens are enjoying being able to go outside again. They started laying, I think 5 out of 9 are laying right now. Now that I'm off they'll be getting a lot of outside time when it's nice out. I'm kinda worried that someone might try to take them, which might be paranoid, but I'm not willing to risk it. I'm going to add a padlock to the coop tomorrow. William's not as threatening as he thinks he is. I'm also going to set up the trail cam so it's aiming towards the door of the coop, just in case.

What a wild ride week one has been for sure!! Looks like you will be ok $ wise with the calamity pay at least.
Schools here are closing for 2-3 weeks too. I am 100% sure a lot of families will have a negative financial impact since there was no way to prepare for a surprise like this. Thousands of kids with no school and no available daycare cannot be good.
