I ordered it this morning. The one you linked a little later in the thread as a matter of fact. $350 for a 56 egg Brinsea. I hatch in the living room so not like I won't check the humidity anyway. It normally sells for $460!Spend the extra $100 to get the 56 egg Brinsea rather than the 28. I'm still kicking myself over that decision. Other than being too small I LOVE my Brinsea. It's rock solid an needs little tending. I got the Ovation 28 EX. It controls the humidity automatically.
I agree going over with a gun on the hip is a serious wake up call. Not that you would shoot them but that you could need to shoot something because Todd isn't available to do his job. I would also ask if they would like him. Tell them the cost of getting a LGD and tell them that if they keep messing with him doing his job they will be getting a bill for his replacement and getting him to take care of. You could also mention sending the them the bill for any livestock lost in his absence while he goes on walks with the neighbor.Okay Squatchers, my turn to rant and seek advice. Never ran into this before and just don't know what to do....
When we got Todd, we spent two months walking him around the perimeter and teaching him where he works. That has worked well until a couple months ago... He has always watched the neighbors driveway when new cars arrive. One day, the visitor called him and he broke the perimeter to respond. I was upset but didn't want to start a fight with the neighbor over the dog. Then it get's worse, our road ends on a major highway and he likes to chase cars. We've successfully kept him away from the highway for two years.
Now he accompanies the neighbor on her walks to the highway. Now when he's supposed to be out guarding the chickens, he's in her house. He goes to visit and she brings him in. Yesterday, one of her visitors was trying to get him into their car. I don't want to start a fight over a dog, but I'm really frustrated. I'm thinking of visiting them again but wearing a gun this time to show I'm serious.
He's my dog, why are they taking him into their house? and why are they trying to get him into a car? This is very frustrating and even though they are nice old people, this is unacceptable but I don't know how to make it stop. He's an independent thinker and now thinks their property is in his patrol zone. I chuckle when he chases raccoons and other critters at 4:30 in the morning at their place, but their solution is just to bring him in their house. I explicitly stated that he doesn't belong in their house which was answered with "I try not to bring him in"
All of my training is gone and he's now expanding his area... I don't know if I should get rid of him, shoot him (not anything I want to do), or what... Thoughts welcome. Please don't suggest shooting the humans, not willing to do that over a dog. don't way too much of that in my life.
Have you explained that he is a working dog and not a pet? That he is there to protect the birds, not be a companion to them?Okay Squatchers, my turn to rant and seek advice. Never ran into this before and just don't know what to do....

Well it was a great deal. I couldn't resist. I may let the grandkids use it.It isn’t worth it to me to run a mini for 7 eggs. I might get one eventually for my kids, but not for me to use.

Just explain the dog's job and how you are training him. Tell them they are preventing him from doing his job. He's a working dog, not a pet.Okay Squatchers, my turn to rant and seek advice. Never ran into this before and just don't know what to do....
