Busy day.

Went to church with keets this morning. Had a lady coming to pick them up. One of the boys at church wanted one. I told him I was selling them and then he offered to ask his mom for money. No, I already promised them to someone else. I’ll be giving/selling a few of them to that family when they move into their new house (if mom decides she can stand the guinea noises). Another couple at church want to try them for tick control.

We moved the layer chicks we got from the hatchery earlier this year and the pullets from the first batches of chicks we hatched this year to the carport pen. We left the cockerels in the old stationary coop. We’ll be turning them into bacon.

HAL is no more. I had my FIL do it. I couldn’t. Every time I went out to do it he fought me and I ended up babying him and helped him drink. 🤦‍♀️

Poor HAL, another beautiful boy gone too soon.:(

He was stunning! But he had his issues.

Poor guy. He did his duty and his legacy will live in in his chicks. I have at least 20 from him (including Robinson). I just put 4 more in the lockdown incubator, I have a couple more due next week, and it looks like at least 4-5 of the eggs from his pen that I set on Wednesday are fertile!

Speaking of fertility, I just candled the 25 guinea eggs that I set Monday from the found nest.... only 4 were were clear. Another 2-3 were questionable, but most had tiny little spider veins growing! I already have 16 eggs to set this week and I have 3 more days to gather eggs before setting. My 1-2 cocks are really starting to do their jobs now! I definitely have at least 5 hens. I’ve found 4-5 eggs a day for the last 3 days.
