Or just get some guineas?I didn't realize they were THAT loud.
Those squash are in a planter box made from an old shipping crate. It is over 2' tall. Next year.....I will plant them low down and MUCH closer to the quackers.

So am I, no guineas here either. They do like bugs, though! I do want to get some ducks, though. Even if they are a little loud. They could be herded into nice hoops over certain garden areas I have in mind. Some lawn must die, first. I am sure they would do that too, but husband does not want to wait! Who am I to complain if he wants to hire labor to take out that dying lawn? While I would love guineas my neighbors might come after me with pitchforks. I should mention.....I am almost smack dab in the middle of town.![]()

Good morning folks![]()
Good morning everyone![]()
Good morning! First thing I had to pull a section of the fence back up it was squished down.
Iv'e had to do that at least a dozen times this spring and summer always the same spot, iv'e started to check it before I do anything else out there.
I'm going to have to replace it the wires have popped due to multiple squashings.
I know one culprit is that goat, deer are probably doing it after dark im tired of it either way.
No idea why they have to kill my fence they could go around.![]()
I had pekins in the past, and they were loud. Your silver appleyards were quieter? They are interesting. I have ordered the season-end mixed ducks from Sandhill Preservation for the end of the month or first week in Sept. I am hoping it has some of the silver appleyards included! Some quackers are quieter than others. My old ducks.....the cayuga were nearly silent followed by the silver appleyards. The loudest was the pekings. The Swedish blacks were mid ground.
These Welsh harlequin aren't bad at all. I get the early morning "Hey human! Fresh water NOW please!" That happens just before sun up. There are a few random QUACK Quack quack's throughout the day but way better than the egg song.
I really like the cute little call ducks but they are deliberately bred to be LOUD.
