Just got back from another ER visit. Have the flu. I'm gonna miss 3 days of school, and three pretty important days too. Oh well. At least I won't get my friends sick.

LOTS of fluids (clear is best), chicken soup (virtual chicken soup for Ruby)

K I'm leaving again. Just can't stay away.

We LOVE you!!! Go write already tater!!!

Are they getting enough heat

Yup. Plenty of heat. That's not been an issue. We had them in the incubator earlier, and they were laying on their sides, breathing almost like they were TOO hot... once we pulled them out of the bator, they perked up. We put together a small brooder just for the 2 of them, and used a MHP tunnel, as we have used for ALL of our chickies. It doesn't seem to be any kind of pattern as to when they would lay down or pop back up or anything. So, Thirteen is tucked in to the MHP and quiet. Hopefully sleeping. Just about 10 minutes ago, Thirteen was trill chirping and had hopped out from the MHP tunnel... so :idunno.

Hmmm you said they don't get to run around much that might be the problem
We leave their doors open, but they choose to stay inside. I'm sure things will straighten out once things warm up.

This has been the coldest stretch I've ever experienced. There were individual weeks in the past that were in the teens at night and upper 20s during the day with maybe one or two nights dipping into the single digits. This has been unremitting cold for almost 4 weeks with only 1 day over freezing and at least half the days under 20 degrees.

This has determined me to have better winter quarters for my birds set up for next year. The mobile coops aren't cutting it.

Yeah, we researched the climate here before we moved, and it was not supposed to get this cold!

One nice thing about it being this cold, no mud! Last year, our property was a mud pit all winter.

It's supposed to hit 60 degrees on Thursday. I might go sunbathing. (Just kidding, but it is tempting)

Funny thing happened today well two funny things. First one is I was out feeding and watering with treats. I have a separate space for my Ameraucanas and I was in there must have forgotten to latch the door. I was closing up and noticed a strange chicken in my mix flock. I rushed to see who the stranger was. One of the Ameraucana hens was running around steeling all the treats and nobody noticed not one of them got upset or anything. I called her and told her get back to your house and she went sulking. I can't believe there wasn't a squabble. So distracted by the treats nobody cared.
The second one is I've been keeping the momma and chicks in the garage since they hatched. Well I was trying to catch them to take them outside and needed my wife to hold momma while I caught the chicks. My wife goes oh my gosh is that the babies how did they get so big they are only three weeks old. She didn't know they grew so fast lol. She was really amazed
