Honestly my husband would kill for your dishwasher, and if you have a clothes dryer he'd fly all the way to Virginia just to use it.

When we moved here, there was no washing machine or clothes dryer, and no plumbing to get rid of water from a washing machine. Now we have a washing machine! We dry the clothes on the line unless it is too cold or very windy. Today we had gusts to 25 mph! I did score a small apartment sized dryer on Craigslist, and it does work pretty well. Sits on top of the washing machine! No room anywhere else in this cabin.

I lived in a log cabin in Alaska years ago. My plumbing was a five gallon bucket and an outhouse. :p

The good old days!

Our only heat source is a wood stove, which I adore ... well, okay ... I'm in Henry the Rooster's Recovery Room and am sitting in front of a space heater. But mostly we just have the wood heat and dry our clothes near the stove during winter. It doesn't look too pretty, though. We also used the ceiling fan for socks and underwear, until we replaced that old honking thing with a new one.

I'd like to make an Amish style drying rack for the clothes so clothes aren't strung all around the house when it's raining. We had tons and tons of rain last winter and spring. It was like a constant underwear and clothes drying factory in here.

Maybe you've already thought of this, but keep your eye out for an old clawfoot tub. They restore nicely with some elbow grease. You can create an outdoor bath setup and make it really cute. Heat water on the stovetop or on the wood stove or run a hose from the hot water tap out to the tub. Put a board across the top of the tub for a candle or lantern and a book, and string some sheets between some trees.

I spend a lot of time on Pinterest.
 
We have a cathedral ceiling so we could string lines up there if we need to... the cats love walking on the beams! Husband has a small space heater in his room but i have the loft abd so since heat rises i am all set. Plus 2 cats and a dog, just in case i need a furry snuggle!

I saw one of those tubs today at Restore, they wanted $175. For it! Robbery! I do love them though, grandma had one.

I think i might have you beat on Starbucks. Within a 5 mile radius of my house there are 3 Starbucks with drive throughs, 2 in grocery stores (used to be 5), and the one in the Barnes and Nobles bookstore. A 10 mile radius adds about 15 more, minimum.

I don't drink coffee, so out here in the woods is good for me. But it is great to have stores handy.
