Official Squatch Watchers

Sounds good Rae! I am sitting down to a cup of tea. Nearly dark out already! Supposed to rain soon, which will be good for the seed and plants i put in.
Sorry Cap, sending it in your direction. Woke up today it was 62, now 42 after all day of ice cold rain.

Hi, my beautiful and wonderful Squatchers! :)

Just sitting on the couch chilling with my dogs (and you guys!), and playing catch-up as usual.:caf I just had to throw Flower (my MFD) in solitary ("the Shoe" as they say in OITNB) because all of a sudden she turned into a bully!

I told you guys, my Silkie Big Bird has been acting weird. I'm starting to think she is broody, not sick. She wants to stay in her nest box all day. She sits there in a little fluffed up, flat, softly peeping ball of feathers. She has not laid an egg in 2 or 3 days. When I got home from work, I put her in the run and shut the pop door. And she was walking around eating and pecking and whatnot. And Flower would NOT stop bullying her!

I mean, like pecking at her head, and stalking her around the run. Like a Mean Girl! She was even doing this thing that was hilarious (but mean!) were she would line right up, beak to beak, make herself a bit taller, and glare at her right in the eye. Totally giving her the stank eye. I don't know what her deal is. They always got along fine, for the past 7 months since they've been a day old. Do other hens pick on a broody normally? Is that common?

She has been gaining weight, and eating the smelly canned salmon (thanks @rjohns39 for that!!!) and her regular food, and she has been drinking.

Broody? After a month of laying eggs?:idunno

I am sorry to tell you that is exactly what happened with my sweet girl Dory, who is a buff Orpington. She has been in and out of broodiness since she hit the point of lay this summer!
I don't have eggs to put under her and I can't have any more chickens than I already have so letting her go at it is out of the question. Everything you described sounds exactly like a broody hen.

@pitbullmomma I don’t even know what to think of your husband!!! I can only imaging a man throwing a rock at the coop to see if a bird moved. That is such a girl move :p

Where is @KikisGirls ???

The mini is sick, so she's had her hands full. Some kind of virus.

I've been wondering in my Svart B. Cochin cross is going the b word.... She sits in the nest for forever when she lays an egg. Has a bald spot under her belly which darn near burned me when I touched it she was so HOT. But she leaves the egg in the nest and goes about her business so I'm trying not to jinx it.
I feel bad for the poor little lady. She seems to be a rooster favorite. Has two little bald spots on her head. I should have 12 girls to 2 boys but all my year olds went into molt and now refuse to leave the coop. I thought once they finished and felt better they would venture out but they want nothing to do with the boys. Any thoughts on that?
