Nope, mine are tums chickens they won't touch oyster shells. The roo will eat them all day long which is absolutely not what I'm wanting.

What about feeding back egg shells. Kind of a pain to hoard then bake off but a LOT cheaper than tums!

Pardon if I am quoting the wrong person... was it @rjohns who said oyster shells are 96% calcium and chickens egg shells are 90%?
(I try to pay attention in class)

Well since my first egg from these chickens was yesterday i was hoping. I did get the other roll of insulation up today in the workshop, tried to put up paneling but the workers had the power out to install wiring in the goat shed. I was just getting frustrated not being able to see so i came inside. There is always tomorrow.
 
It's definitely an option, tums are just calcium carbonate and flavoring. :)

I didn’t know about Tums as an option. My Red’s would never eat Oyster shell or the grit. They would eat egg shells, but I recently read that was sufficient. They were on Layena, which had some calcium.

Oh honey I do that every chance i get. It would be alot simpler if they would just eat the oyster shells but they aren't about making stuff simple for me. ;)
