I'm down to one laying at the moment. Lizbeth had decided to do a soft molt. Of course Gurtrude, who looks like she's been wearing the same coat daily for the lat 12 years, is laying like normal. Lizbeth is only 11 mos old. Gurtrude hasn't molted in 13 mos. I'm collecting Lizbeth's feathers, they are gorgeous, she's a gold laced bantam cochin.

I bet those are pretty feathers. I'm having to collect feathers to tie flys for hubs. The best one's are on the roo and Bea but they aren't parting with them.

I use any and all feathers for that, well not silkie for obvious reasons. :)
Do you use guinea feathers for that?
You do have a bunch of slackers! The one egg i got was Marlene's the delaware I've been concerned about. The egg was perfect though, she laid a softie off the roost a couple days ago but that was a tough soft egg!
I am yet to get an egg this year! I had to look at the eggs in the fridge to see when I had one last. Bunch of slackers. 6 of them are hatched in 2017. Then 5 more are just 1.

Finally things are calming down here.
Did the store run. Hate shopping!!!! Got most of what was on the list.
The skipped items were not critical things.

Puppy loves to play. She finally decided to nap......under my rocker. no escaping now.

Ya'll been busy!

Sassy, I think the ostrich is pretty but totally understand if it does not fit in you gotta do what you gotta do.
Orps are quite large compared to bantams.
Bitty in my current avatar is just 6" tall. Her best bud was an Orpington. The ORP had a twisted leg but was a great hen. They both went broody at the same time. That ORP was certain she had hatched the bantam. Um no. But it made her a staunch defender of Bitty for years.
I miss my Twinkie girl. Bitty is still with us and lives with 3 giant Cochins, a barnevelder, a leghorn and another bantam.
I have removed BSL from my flock for attitude issues. I totally understand.
