They are nice, if exasperating at times. We would't really be buying the house down the lane "for them" but to 1) consolidate property on the lane within our family 2) to have more room in our house and 3) it's a nice piece of SE facing property that I would really like to turn into terraced gardens and orchards.

I'm sorry your in-laws, and apparently your husband (ex now right?) were taters.
Yes, very much an ex at this point.
I LOOOOVVVEEEE fruit trees! What you don't keep for yourself you could sell. There's always people looking to 'experience' apple picking and stuff like that. I'm planning on getting a few fruit trees this spring. I planted cherry trees at my parent's old house and ONCE I got 1 cherry, but birds got it before I did... gave them to a friend when my parents moved and she got TONS of cherries from them. So jealous. They have better soil at this house so hopefully something will grow.

That is wrong on so many levels in my very conservative mind! Did he want an open marriage?
It sure seemed like it since he was running around w/ any woman who would give him the time of day. He ended up marrying one of his mistresses. There were many. We were actually did an interview w a news station where they talked to men who liked me meet women online. It was... interesting. I eventually had enough and left him for good. One of those 'I'll never do it again' liars. I doubt he ever stopped and if he did it was only b/c there were no women desperate enough to hook up w/ an obese balding almost middle aged man who looks like he lives in his mom's basement. Seriously much better off that I left when I did. I LOL that while I was pregnant w/ my youngest he actually told me I needed to join Curves to lose weight after the baby was born... then he ends up w/ a woman who's butt is wider than a shopping cart. That's karma right there.

Will hawks go after the larger chickens like Orpington’s and whatever else is huge?
Depends on the type hawk. I have small hawks that won't go near full grown chickens, but the red tails love chicken and duck, but won't go near the turkeys. Turkeys do well protecting everyone else.

Hey my people!!! Where do you all order your HEIRLOOM seeds from? I have ordered from SeedsNow and Bakers Creek... anyone have any others?! I am looking for variety!
