@Redhead Rae do you think the Caron one pound softens with washing? I'm in love with their simply soft line but it can get pricey. Why I haven't done an afghan.

Good to know. I had tried to learn to crochet for years but never got it. Then a few years back something just clicked and can crochet. It does. I have several Afghans I've made in this yarn. It tends to mat down and gets sort of felted with washing. It also feels softer when it has been made into something (even before washing. HEAVEN HELP YOU if you try to unravel it after washing several times. The first bed sized afghan I made was way to long and too narrow (it stretched BADLY). Unraveling the part I wanted to was a nightmare. I had to cut through some of the sections because the yarn got so matted together. It took FOREVER! So far, I've made 3 bed sized afghans and 3-4 couch sized ones. My recommendation is to make a couch sized throw first to see if you like how it lays and feels before taking on a bed sized one. A baby blanket in worsted weight yarn tends to feel too stiff and doesn't have enough weight to give you a feel of how a larger blanket will behave.
Well crap! The dead bird curse has struck again.
My leghorn is no more.
No idea what went wrong as she was fine this morning.
She was almost 3 so for a leghorn I am not surprised to lose her.

What does "surrounded by Amish" mean?Gotcha babe. Try for a good fit. And x2 there Cappy... we have ONE *resale* shop, and it's a Goodwill..... and it's on the *nicer* side..... and we're surrounded by Amish.... and etc.
Thank you!!
People that exist in the old ways, do not use cars, instead buggies. Women wear bonnets to cover their hair , modest dress. Men are known for woodworking skills, and generally wear beards. We had some near us in TN. Nice folks .What does "surrounded by Amish" mean?
I don't think we have Amish down here...I could be wrong but I am not familiar with this breed.
