Not really. The nice bits of spring are spent smacking black flies, and then once that yucky 70* stuff arrives it's humid enough (usually) to soak a laminated paper towel.

So pretty awful year round.

Except for fall. That one season makes up for everything else put together.

No bugs, gorgeous weather, and pretty trees. I don't mind winter either, actually, as long as it stays mostly above -20F.

Early spring is lovely too. Tapping, fresh air, and bare patches in the snowy moonscape.

I make something between the two. Like the inside of a pot pie then I bake lots of strips of puff pastry in the oven.
I guess you'd call it deconstructed pot pie.
Man. My kids used to love that.

I am going to hit the hay soon. The Milk Drinker just went down and I got only about 5 hours last night. I need to cull some roosters tomorrow. Yay.....

But.... I need to buck up and do it. I have 9 cockerels that need to go and I’ve got eggs in the incubator and chicks coming next week. So, I need to make room for them.

Egg production is finally going up.
I got 9 yesterday and 8 today.
My barnevelder actually laid today!

So about 30% of my birds are being cooperative.
