Official Squatch Watchers

Morning Squatchers. Do any of you use stacked nest boxes? I'm having a new coop built for my Seramas that are coming next month and want to use a pair of stacked boxes instead of side by side. I need some input please

I have stacked boxes.
I get eggs both in upper and lower boxes. This week the lower left has been most popular averaging 6 eggs in it with between 1 and 4 in each of the other boxes.

They switch it up. Next week who knows.....

Stacked as in this or this?

If so, yep, I've never used anything but. While the birds do exhibit preference for the top boxes, they seem to not mind the lower ones as well.

I have stacked boxes. I find eggs in all them or even on the floor. Sometimes several in 1 box sometimes not. When I removed boxes to try and break my broody they protested and quit laying. Put 1 back they all used it. I’ll go out today and find them on the floor. I’ve given up trying to figure out the nest box.

Where is our NPIP person?!?!?! You need NPIP certification to sell fertilized eggs or just live chickens?!?!
It depends if you are selling them across state lines.
But generally speaking yes the fertilized eggs in 98% of the states are required to come from a PT tested flock.
Doesn't necessarily mean you HAVE to be NPIP but being NPIP makes the process easier.

Most people just ship eggs regardless.
They just haven't been caught yet.

Kiki's the gal for that. In state? I believe you only need AI/PT or just PT to do that, not anything like A CVI or NPIP... ask her though.
:hmm
SMuv you should have called to wake me up last night!
I am just seeing this!

I have spent many hours talking to each state about NPIP rules.
I haven't quite finished my project but I will turn it into a detailed article once I am done with all 50 states.

Does it matter if people come to me to get the birds, even if they live in another state or just if I'm transporting across state lines??
