The same eggs with and without flash. Here’s the head scratcher— the top two are from my Wheaten Ameraucanas.
The bottom three are from my Olive Egger. Yes all three are from the same chicken! My OE just laid a purple egg

Hatch update: One more fully hatched and healthy new chick and one other that died after it externally pipped. It was malpositioned
One egg remains but I think it is DIS. I will leave it for now though just in case I am wrong.

So grand total is 5 beautiful little fluffy butts. 3 boys and two girls I know 5 babies out of 9 developed eggs is not a very good hatch rate. But I never really needed 10 chicks. I bought 10 eggs cause I knew the hatch rate could be bad and I really wanted to get at least one pullet chick. And I got two! I am planning to keep both pullet chicks and one cockerel chick. And I already found a buyer for the other two males! Double

How are everyone else’s flocks doing? @21hens-incharge I loved the autocorrect! Mean Broodies should all be renamed bloodies @Redhead Rae any luck fixing the Franken Bator? @pitbullmomma I believe you promised us Pippin pics? @Smuvers Farm I bet you will be a hit at the farmers market!

i am very happy that you got some girls! I wish it were more but still super happy for you.

That broody is a beast! I watched her on her outing this afternoon. Stomping around puffed up like a turkey, making mama noises, pecking any encroaching hens.
Her name is Peanut.

And thanks. I am going to focus on the positives. The babies I have are absolutely precious! And so tiny! Once a day I go steal one and make it cuddle with me for a few minutes

He'll be 22 months on the 1st. I need to get a new Milk Drinker in the works, but I think having this one still feasting off me is complicating those plans.
