Official Squatch Watchers

Rae, I popped a rib coughing... It hurts just remembering the pain. Got good meds at the hospital, had to fight the doc to renew the script—but he did. Fired him a few weeks later. Unfortunately, he bought into the whole "let the office manager dictate prognosis/diagnosis" thing under the whole concept of "it won't hurt him." So he tried to sell me on the thought that I had high BP, 120/80. My response was: "you're fired" and refused to pay the co-pay and told the insurance not to pay their part (and they listened). Sorry for the rant, hate what the medical profession has become.

@rjohns39 , I agree with you whole heartedly.

@Redhead Rae i am so sorry!
Keep a pillow nearby and force yourself to take 2 big deep sighs at least every half hour and cough whether you need it or not at least every hour.
A broken rib is usually just a painful inconvenience but can also lead to more serious things like pneumonia or a collapsed lung.
If you experience shortness of breath go to the ER.

Thanks for the advice. I don’t think my rib is broken. I think I mildly sprained it 2 weeks ago or so and I aggravated it badly gardening this week. I’m going to my chiropractor on Monday to see what he thinks. I’ll probably need an x-ray. If it gets worse before then, I’ll be going to the ER.

It might also help to sort of hug a pillow in bed if you’re a side sleeper to keep it expanded.
