@staceyj It’s so hard to watch a loved one deteriorating. I know exactly what you mean about waiting for the end.
Between the ex and I we lost 4 family members in less then 6 months last year. (Went to 2 funerals in the same week) All of their passings were a blessing for them. As sad as we all were to see them go I took comfort knowing they were not suffering anymore.

Good morning everyone hope y'all have a restful day:frow

You guys thanks for understanding.

It’s DH who needs the hugs.
But woo! He is cranky today.

Sounds like you both need a hug. :hugs

As for your DH’s sibs:smack

When we were living with my dad’s parents to care for them, for the first 6 years of caring for them, they didn’t help at all really. I can’t blame my one aunt, she spent 6 months of hell with my grandparents before we moved in with them pretty much on her own. And she was just DONE and lived in 3/4ths of they way across the country. My uncle who lived near by would come on Sunday mornings to “watch” my grand parents for a little while, but that really translated into eat all the ice cream in the freezer (especially the special individual pints of Ben and Jerrys) and watch tv. My other aunt who lived nearby only stopped in when she wanted something (usually money). Granted, she had a huge change of heart in the last 2 years we were caring for them and allowed us to get away on vacation but before that, we had to pay people to stay with them. My uncle never once watched them for more than 4 hours at a time and once bailed in the middle when his mother fainted on the toilet and messed up the whole bathroom. He quit coming on Sundays after that.

Thanks for sharing Rae. Isn’t it sad that it EVER has to be this way?
It definitely helps to know we aren’t the only ones with less than helpful family members. :hugs
