Poor guy. I hope it's just the heat. No suggestions, but offer support. I'd keep feeding him the eggs since it sounds like he's willing to eat those for you. Maybe boil a couple so you have them on hand and don't need to make one special each time. It always seems like the good ones are the ones that go first.. monsters like mine will live forever.Good morning peeps!
I have a job interview today. It's less than half an hour from my house and is an elementary school with ~ 600 kids, which would be kinda my dream job. Wish me luck.
I think my beautiful black roo, Lafayette, is gonna die. I don't know what's wrong with him. He's been lethargic for the past few days, walking slowly, tail is slumped, comb is flopped over. He hasn't crowed in days. He's lost weight.
I've been giving him electrolytes and probiotics and boiled an egg yesterday which he scarfed down. He is eating and drinking well. I gave him Nutridrench. I haven't seen his poo.
I went in the run and he was just sitting down in the dirt. I feel so bad. I love that rooster! He's only a little over a year old. He was fine right up until he wasn't.
I have to go get ready for that job interview. I'm going to boil an egg for him first.
He had the most annoying crow, like a lunatic woman. Now I would give anything to hear him crow.![]()
YAYYYYYYYY!!!! Congrats!Woo Hoo I have a non broody hen again! She was roosting with everyone else last night but I thought I’d find her in a box this morning. She ran out with everyone else. I’ll leave the crate set up as a reminder.![]()
Wow, not at all what I'd expect.. you always hear about how horrible the snow is in CO.. Sounds like you found the good spot. That horrible hail tends to be south of Denver. That storm was about a 3&1/2 hour drive away. Terrible terrible damage and death with that storm.
We are tucked up close to the foothills so are very protected from the storms. We only get deep snow if a good storm is turning counterclockwise, hail tends to be pea sized, tornadoes get blocked by the mountains making the wind shift.
Yes it has always been expensive here. More now than before but I am not sure the pot thing had much to do with that.
Yeah, no thanks. I have that sweating just being outside, IN THE SHADE here. It's gross. Like feeling the sweat roll down your back under your shirt, dripping off your face onto your glasses, 1/2 your bra soaked when you take it off (sweat lines when it dries).. We'll find the sweet spot and start our own town, with NO chicken restrictions!I watched a PBS show on where the lava, gas and tsunami would go and the evacuation routes... in a worst case blow up... if you can see it your toast from the toxic gas if nothing else... they said there was no way with the number of people that everyone could get out using the evacuation routes.
that being said it is beautiful country..and worth looking into
Yes tornados don't always give much warning, They have to form somewhere and there have been several cases by me with no alert and the tornado popped up and wiped out a town. One reason I want to get out of here, too many people/trucks is the other.
I think you are right.. we Might be able to get 2 off the list.. I have to add low crime too....my utopia doesn't exist
My parents used to summer in Bend Oregon and tow the trailer to Rio Hondo tx in the winter.. until it got to be too much and they bought a house in TX... no way would I want to live in that part of TX.. I used to go down between Veterans day and Thanksgiving and clean the algae off the house, sweating like crazy![]()
PBM's sick rooster is the only pressing matter at the moment: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/official-squatch-watchers.1208165/page-2825#post-20318155Hi guys, I'm back and I'm not wading through 13 pages of chatter. What did I miss?

Cappy your brain works like mine. This post reminded me of Denegard, maybe that would help.
maybe give her a tums every day for a week.Could be that second Monday. Sable chewed the drywall during the night.
I can fix it but DANG!
That’s a great and thoughtful suggestion!!!Pbm, I hope Lafayette pulls through. Is he drinking plenty of water? The lack of poo makes me think he might be dehydrated, which would slow down his system, make him lethargic and not wanting to do anything. The lack of fluids could also cause him to have problems with passing poop because and build up toxins since they pass their pee at the same time.
@apryl29 , If Cookie behaves himself he can stay iv'e got no problems keeping him if he isn't a butt to anybody. As of right now he seems to be trying to help Negan and is staying away from his favoriate girls. He's doing all the proper stuff, making nests and tidbitting. Poor dummy still wants to be Hobo's huckleberry, she does squat for him now but as soon as he's off she flogs the crap out of him.....ah romance.@Chickassan !!!
Oh Lordy. Read this.
I wonder how far away Early’s new home is.https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/got-my-cock-bird-back-with-a-funny-story.1264983/
Early is a couple towns over in Easley, he's in about a 3 acre pasture with around 40 hens of various sizes and breeds and a couple goats His only rival is a pet silkie lol! Hopefully he behaves himself better that this person's boy.
