Odin's been culled. I feel bad, but I know anyone else would have dispatched him months ago.
Oddly, once he was gone Willie barely crowed at all. They must have been having a crowing competition going on the whole time.

It's a hard thing but best in the long run. :hugs

Thanks I had to run an errand.
Then a friend called with a dog emergency. I saw your comment. Good thoughts.
Just getting back on here.

Ok. Now I’m really irritated with DH.
Tagging @CapricornFarm cuz she needs to hear this too.

Writing sucks.

I’ve been so down in the dumps lately. It’s a very lonely thing. And rejection... well, it’s hard to let it roll off your back when you put so much time into a piece of work and usually never even hear back because the industry says rudeness is okay now across the board.
So silence=a no.
If you do get a response it’s usually a form.

I got a rejection today about a project I worked on for a very long time -a form rejection by email. The funny thing was I submitted it 27 MONTHS ago!
LOLOLOL really. Lol.

THATS MORE THAN TWO YEARS!
So that one didn’t even hurt and actually made me laugh out lot for reals!
I was so tempted to hit that reply button and ask if they needed “readers” since it took her TWO FLIPPING YEARS to get back to me on a 600 word children’s book!

Then I closed my email and it dinged so I reopened it and lol’d some more because I actually had an ACCEPTANCE for a magazine article (children’s)
Whoop whoop.
Submitted THAT ONE a year and a half ago. These people don’t work on an urgent time frame. Ever.

Don’t get excited gang.
For what a magazine article pays I can’t even take all ya squatchers out for ice cream. Slurpees maybe, butp not ice cream.
But still... I was excited.
I told DH.
“Hey! Omg! Guess what?!”
He never lifted his eyes from his iPad. He said, “That was nice of them.”

Guess that’s why it’s called an “i”pad.

Man. I’m glad I have you guys.

We are glad to have you too Stacey! :hugs

Super stoked on your acceptance! You should be proud!!

(Wanna borrow my skillet???) :D

We ALL need some chocolate!!!
And cast iron skillets!

Wow... you'd think in such a cut throat business they'd be faster at processing submissions. Congrats on getting your article selected!

When we had cockerels really close to the house for slaughter, my Chocolate Orp roo would NOT SHUT UP. Usually, I hear him 3-4 times a day, if that.

My chicken field right now, dueling cockerels/roosters. I need to do some culling.

@staceyj Congrats on the article!

I think I've found the secret formula to getting the Milk Drinker to sleep early!
  • 1.5 hour nap or less
  • Turn off the lights in the room
  • It is best to turn off my computer monitors as well, but if I'm working and can't turn them off, it only takes 20-30 min extra to get him down
He's been going to bed between 9-9:45 recently. It's been lovely. He's been waking up earlier most days, but all in all, I would rather be woken up early, than kept awake at the end of the day with no time to decompress. If I REALLY want to and have the time, I can put him in his play area (which is right next to his crib in our room) and go back to sleep.
Wow, I can't even imagine what a field of roosters crowing would be like.
Great to hear you have a routine that is working for you guys!
