So, after we finished moving the birds to death row, my SIL and I decided to go to tractor supply because one of our waterers broke during the move and our galvanized feed pans are starting to rust through. Well, on the way back, my van started making a loud thumping noise. The belt is either loose or it is starting to fray. We made it to our local auto repair shop and now we are waiting on DH to pick us up. Such a fun morning. And I still have roosters I need to process. :th
Here we have a poultry processing place that will brocess them for a couple of bucks each. There is a min. number of birds, 15 I think but you drop them off in the morning and pick them up a couple of hours later.

Hurricane cleanup continues... DH had his first day off after working 21 days straight. He says he’s getting too old for that.

We made a lot of progress, cut a lot of wood, and I even planted some fall crops.
DH asked when the girls will start laying eggs again... they are heavily in molt rn.

I tried to look as innocently unknowing as our little BYC emoji ( )
Didn’t have the heart to tell him ...spring.

Good morning all!:frow

So, no BBC's in my immediate future. Gonna have to wait till spring and hatch out some AC eggs. Oh well! I tried.

Mystery Chick #4 hatched this morning (or last night). :love S/he is a cute little Silkie mix with 5 toes each and multicolored down. This is the only one that has black legs! It's fluffing out in the bator now. :jumpy

I have one more egg left to hatch which is a Serama. That one is due today or tomorrow.
If that one hatches, that will be a perfect hatch rate!

I slipped the newest baby under the moms before. It took a little bit but now it's under the wings. All the babies are eating and active, and it's so adorable to see chick babies with mamas! This is the 4th batch of chicks I've brooded, but the first one I did with hens. No more stinky yoga room/chicken room for two months for me! Yay!
Yeah! More babies !!

Great job!
Thanks! After supper i finished the quail duplex , and started assembling the new brooder i am building. As i was stapling the wire on my pneumatic stapler quit. Again. I swear i have worn out 6 of them! They just don't work like they used to.
Anyway, i nailed the hardware cloth on with poultry staples so the bottom is done. When i go back out to the work shop at 10 pm i will work on assembly more. Those chicks are growing like weeds!

Nothing is made like it used to be.:rantSorry Cap
Thanks DD! I fell today again! I swear this ladder hates me. I was very careful all day, putting boards under the legs so they didn't sink in the mud. I had it all set up and climbed up top of the run to staple the wire on top. I was stapling along and suddenly i had this vision of myself falling! And then the ladder folded and i fell, but hung onto the wood at the top. Really did a number on my torso under my boobs, i bet i get a bruise. At least i didn't bang my head on the tree stump!

I was to the right, at the end of this run when the ladder folded itself. I think it is evil!
